February 13th, 2005CommentsOh my gosh, I can't tell you how much this means to me. I cried when I saw the performance, and now I can keep the moment my own. Thanks again. Thanks. :) Me and a friend are wondering if the middle part was lip synched...he TIVO'd the video and says his mouth doesn't match his voice at that point...the "can you hear me when I siiiiiiing"...way too perfect. Just throwing that out there.... At this juncture I'd disagree wholeheartidly. U2 has never been known to use any form of Lip-synching or even Guided Vocaling. But I do agree, the performance was flawless, but then again, their performances at awards shows, especially the Grammy Awards are always tip-top. They were also never known to put their songs in commercials before last year either, so I wouldn't rule anything out. Someone will upload a video soon, I'm sure...i'm gonna have to take another look. U2 have mimed many TV performances. Going back to 1981. Then as recent as last November. It aint a big deal, that's live TV for you. The performace at the oscars a few years back being a prime example. Even some of the vocals on the elevation tour was mimed. No big deal. Are you high? They have used several songs in movies, and commercials. Not to mention the advertising campaign they marketed with K-Mart for the PopMart tour. And quite frankly, the Vertigo/I-Pod spot was a nice commercial, and one that they made a good decision on partnering with. Afterall, they turned down 3 20$ million dollar deals with other companies for the same kind of promotion. And how can you be so bold to criticize a band we in this community are supposed to love? I mean, they aren't 20 anymore, they are approaching their mid-40's, can you blame them for needing to advertise their upcoming album in order to generate interest in it? If you can, you should be shot. |
