Across the Universe - 2005 Grammys @ 06:41 pm

hanluvr:
I'm currently feelin: curious curious
I'm currently hearin: Mad World - Gary Jules

Can anybody help with some musician identification?

I just downloaded Across the Universe from iTunes. I can recognize Bono of course, and I think I hear Paul McCartney, which would be fitting? But can anybody type up who sang what part? I've got the lyrics... It was amazing how some did well... and others... just fell flat, IMO.

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass, they slip away Across the Universe.
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind,
Possessing and caressing me.

Jai Guru Deva Om
Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on Across the Universe.
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box,
They tumble blindly as they make their way Across the Universe

Jai Guru Deva Om
Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.

Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing
Through my open ears inciting and inviting me.
Limitless, undying love, which shines around me like a million suns,
And calls me on and on Across the Universe

Jai Guru Deva Om
Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.
Nothing's gonna change my world, Nothing's gonna change my world.

Speaking of iTunes... can anybody tell me for sure that The Corr's When the Stars Go Blue has Bono? I would assume it does, but I don't want to download the song to find out it's a version sung when he wasn't present...

EDIT: Regarding the Corrs... I didn't realize it was a one time thing. I saw live in the description and thought it was a concert version from on the road. *feels silly*

Is it the live version they did at the actual Grammy ceremony?  Paul McCartney wasn't there.

Off the top of my head, I recall Brian Wilson doing one of the "Nothing's gonna change my world" lines alternating with Bono, as did the singer from Green Day later on. And I think the "limitless undying love" line was Steven Tyler from Aerosmith.

Oh yeah... IIRC it was Alicia Keys who did the "Images of broken light" line.

I thought that part might be here. BLAH. While not someone I'd chose to listen to, I don't hate her either... but I didn't care for her in this. o_O

I wasn't sure it was him. I thought that intially, but then it didn't sound quite right in relistening... if you're correct, I think it was Brian Wilson I was hearing. I believe you're right on Steve Tyler. That sounds exactly like him. Thanks!

Unless I'm mistaken, I think Stevie Wonder did the line after Bono's.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd dig out the video and tell you all of them (uhhh, apart from the people I didn't recognise at all)!

Bono does sing on "When the Stars Go Blue." I have the song, actually, and love it.
