SYCMIOYO has been released as a promotional single to North American radio - here is the relevant discography entry in the Ultimate Resource that is U2Wanderer.org, but bear in mind the release date is the UK one. I believe, but cannot confirm, the US promo was issued within the last fortnight. Just to add to that, SYCMIOYO is going to be released as a proper commercial single in Canada - to see evidence of this, visit this site, scroll down until you reach the 1 March 2005 releases, and you will find it. The catalogue number is 0249870115.
This comes as absolutely no surprise to me, as U2 are charting very well in Canada at the moment. Here's the current singles chart:
#1 - All Because Of You
#7 - Vertigo (maxi)
#8 - Vertigo (single)
#13 - Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (import)
#26 - Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (import)
Yes, BOTH versions (though it doesn't say which is which) of SYCMIOYO have already charted in Canada on the basis of imports! Quite impressive. Canada quite clearly rocks.
In the USA, this is All Because Of You's run on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 (essentially the Top 101-125): 109-101-102-112. Just about made it into the top 100 but not quite, and remember that's based solely upon airplay. Interestingly enough, the import of the CD single from Canada debuted at #51 on the British charts!
One last tidbit of information: word on the street is that the next HTDAAB single, which will be the 25th anniversary single, will be City Of Blinding Lights. No surprises there, as Bono has introduced it live by saying how it relates to the band heading to both London and New York as youngsters to get a record deal and break through. Keep in mind this is celebrating the 25th anniversary of U2's partnership with Island Records, which began on 23 May 1980 with the release of the 11 O'clock Tick Tock single, and that gives weight to the rumours that the b-side for the 25th anniversary single will be a re-recorded 11 O'clock Tick Tock (and possibly even Touch). This would also make it appear likely for 11 O'clock Tick Tock to appear at some point on tour - I'm going to hold onto that hope as it is my favourite U2 song.
