Hey everyone!

I am going to be doing a biography project on Bono for my speech class. I need biographical info on him, which I can easily find, but I also need to find a speech he has made. I figured with all his charity work, and stuff, he must have done some kind of positive speech. Anyone know where I could find one? And what would be the most important highlights to include in the biography?

Thanks so much!

I don't remember what it was but he has done the african tour and has done a speech for college graduates. I don't know what else to say he I think was doing and still doing things for the Tsumai efforts and yea...you might find stuff on their offical site.

Oh yeah

And for the most important highlights to add to the biography, you might want to add in his close relationship with MLK's mom and the fact that he has many times been quoted as saying he'd rather have been a speech writer than a singer/lyricist.

Oh yeah

And another key point you might want to add is his close friendship with Nelson Mandela. And the fact that he has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times.

you should def include his first major trip to africa back in 1985 with ali as that's what really spurred him in that area. also, his mother's death I think too helped shape the person he is. def the nobel peace prize nomination, you could also use mick jagger's quote about bono, damn, I'm sure someone here can give it to you about him walking on water, sort of a joke to open up with if you like :-) good luck!

The Mick Jagger quote

"He's a poet. He's a philosopher. And last night, I think I saw him walking on water."

Well..

That speech looks okay, but it's not very humorous in my opinion. He's pretty well known for his lack of humor in his speeches and public addresses, so you might want to find a way to include that somehow.

Oh, and..

My favorite quote by him would be:

"Here’s to the future! The only limits are the limits of our imagination.
Dream up the kind of world you want to live in, dream out loud, at high volume.”
- Bono, at The Point Depot, New Year's Day January 1st 1990

Here are some more quotes:

"Music can change the world because it can change people."
"We thought that we had the answers, it was the questions we had wrong."
"To be one, to be united is a great thing. But to respect the right to be different is even greater."

here's another one I like:

"If I am close to the music, and you are close to the music, then we are close to EACH OTHER"

I'm not sure how 'political' that may be, but I think metaphorically it says alot about his views on "one-ness" speaking of, don't forget his One campaign!

I about to do a speech on Bono but I decided I'd do it on world poverty/ hunger instead. Bono is a very long subject, plus I'd have to do the speech in french and my friends would nag me. Ummm I have a million quotes that Bono said.

Here's a million quotes. Well, not a million. You pick which ones you like! ^_^

Love & Peace
God bless
Hope it helps!!
