Hehe- thought it was great....right until the jab at Edge. :( How dare he! :P It seems like U2 seems to resonate a lot with the sports critic community though- that's really cool. I always like it when I read something like that, or one of the ones that Matt mcgee puts up on the atu2 website- I just think its a great reminder of how much u2 has hit peoples lives in so many different ways :)

But still, I contend- EDGE DOES NOT NEED TO BE PROPPED UP! WATCH THE FOOT STOMP AND COWER! *laughs*

If he took time to look outside the US, he'd see the U2 of sports - the New Zealand All Blacks. Heck, the challenge is for U2 to be the New Zealand All Blacks of music, consistently great for one hundred years.

Around The World

I like Bill Simmons' articles and was a little surprised that he was a U2 fan. He seems more a classic rock fan to me, with the Stones or Springsteen. It's great! And he does have a point about the band. No one in the music world has been able to have the career that U2 has had to this point. They are a band that has defined entire generations of people around the world.

Yes, Bill Simmons actually LOVES U2 as much as we all do. He's had a lot of U2 references in the past, and I'm pretty sure that when he was covering the 2001 superbowl (played in Feb 2002), he GUSHED about the halftime show brilliance that was U2.

ahhh. I actually found this piece just an hour or so ago on my own and couldn't stop gushing. It's amazing when two seemingly separate, different spheres of your world collide, particularly when one involves U2.
