Quiz: Album Tracks @ 11:09 am

This is something that I've been thinking about doing for the last week or so - If you were able to create a greatest "album tracks" album, which songs would you choose? For those of you that are confused by this term, album tracks used to describe the non-single released songs on an album. If a "greatest hits" CD usually has about 14-16 songs, which songs would you have on your CD?

Was there a single for "Until The End Of The World" released? I remember that it got some radio play here when the Wim Wenders movie came out, but I don't know if there was a single for it too.

i checked the u2 website when i made the list because i only became a hard core u2 fan fairly recently and wasn't sure which songs were released or not and it wasn't listed. i've heard it on hte radio too, but never a single so i can include it :)

Re: ill start again

Was "In God's Country" released as a single? I ask this because the local 'cool rock' station KFOG plays that song on a semi regular basis. They are known to play album tracks that they really like but I'm not sure if there was an actual single for it.

From a slightly different angle...

1. An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart
2. The Electric Co.
3. Tomorrow
4. October
5. Drowning Man
6. Promenade
7. Indian Summer Sky
8. MLK
9. Exit
10. Heartland
11. Ultraviolet (Light My Way)
12. Zooropa
13. If You Wear That Velvet Dress
14. Kite
15. Wild Honey
16. City Of Blinding Lights

(I don't know if that last one is/was/will be a single, but I don't recall so. And I'm almost 100% certain none of the others are singles, either)

Instead of doing the whole "B-Sides" thing like on the 1980-1990 collection, I would rather do a live album. Live albums are what got me into U2 (and live collections and concertgoing). So, if I could, I would choose a live assortment of songs spanning the band's career. Were I to make a list, with many of the same conditions, it might be as follows:

1. An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart
2. Out Of Control
3. Twilight
4. Fire
5. I Threw A Brick Through A Window
6. Drowning Man/Surrender
7. Wire
8. Indian Summer Sky
9. Red Hill Mining Town
10. Mothers Of The Disappeared
11. So Cruel
12. Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World
13. Zooropa
14. Lemon
15. Gone
16. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own

Except for "Brick", I'm fairly cetain all of these were played when their respective albums came out and tours were undertaken, and I'm almost certain that none of them became "definitive" live recordings for the band. I tried to limit the list to songs that I haven't heard live (except, again, for "Brick") and would want to hear on a live recording (however many discs it would be), that the band might've played in their set at one point or another (I know they did "Brick", but I'm not sure they ever played "Zooropa", which I would love to hear live).

Re: From a slightly different angle...

"Red Hill Mining Town" is one of my all time favorite songs period. I've loved it ever since I first heard it. It's such a great song. And I can vouch for the fact that they played it and "Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World" at the concerts that I've been to.
