Hello Hello!!

March 27th, 2005

Update from San Diego............. @ 08:56 pm

mmmmjournal:
...... the thirty or forty people who were lined up outside the San Diego Sports Arena (iPayOne Center) parking lot earlier today (since noon) have been let into the parking lot now that the hockey game inside has come to an end. They are lined up at the main entrance and currently enjoying a fireworks show from nearby Sea World.

Don't worry about them catching cold overnight.... the weather here is gorgeous. :)

Just 22.5 hours to go..........

The lottery system will hopefully bring an end to complete madness like this.

Do not patronize me.

Complete madness? Mad that I could get there and have a bracelet that says number one on it, would have been willing to wait all day in a line and then in the lottery I could end up at the end of the line ? No reason to be upset? This is my daughters first rock n roll concert and I was really looking forward to showing her what a U2 camp out and concert in GA was all about. Not standing behind some asshole 50 feet back from the "oval" catwalk.

Have you ever camped out to get a good spot at a U2 show? If not then forget it. You are clueless about the whole thing and you do not understand. It isn't just about the spot the the p[erson get's inside the show... it is the whole experience from the time you arrive to sit there all day.

This "lottery" brings back a bad taste in my mouth from Boston when they marched people in in front of those of us who had cue'd in line alllll day long.

I don't think the old system should be fucked with.

You know, some of us have better things to do with our time than sit on the pavement outside a venue for 12+ hours just to get up the front. I've been arguing this all bloody day on Interference with people who seem to think they're entitled to be close enough to the stage to bottle Bono's sweat or that a concert isn't worthwhile if you aren't in the front row - fact of the matter is that even if you're up the back of the floor, you're still closer to the stage than multiple sections of $165 seats!

Really, who cares how close you are? You're going to listen to MUSIC. At least you're not the guy sitting up the back in the nosebleeds - or worse, the guy who missed out, or even worse, one of the millions of people who lives in countries without concerts.

But I can't be bothered arguing. I can tell from your tone you're not going to see my viewpoint. I think this lottery is a fantastic idea and you think it's horrific. Agree to disagree?
