Correction: the GA lottery system is a fantastic idea.

I'm very pleased about this. Maybe now I'll see a little more of Boston than the exterior of the Fleet Centre.

Um yeah... correction; it sucks ASS. Queues are the one way of weeding out the apathetic-people-with-good-tickets from the dedicated-people-with-good-tickets.

So just because someone doesn't queue for 12+ hours, they're an inferior fan?

If someone has a GA ticket they should realize when they buy the ticket that it is a GENERAL ADMISSION TICKET -- just like when you go to the movies or any other kind of event and you have a GA TICKET -- you line up and it is 1st come first serve.

It is screwing people who thought they had general admission tickets, doing this, can't you "get it"? If I had known I was not truly getting GA - I wouldn't have bought a membership and I wouldnt have freaking been so psyched about GA tickets. I would have saved my time, worry and trouble and bought nosebleeds or better yet NOTHING.

No, but I think those who queue deserve to be rewarded for their troubles.

I agree, to a point. Yes, first come, first serve is the ideal way to do it. But what about those of us who, for whatever reason, can't queue up 15 hours in advance? I might be the biggest fan on the block, but maybe ...

Oh, never mind. It should just be first come, first serve. *g*

But surely those people would have bought seats instead? The number of things related to this tour that no one's though to announce... blagh.

Queuing two to three days in advance is ridiculous... this isn't an ideal system, but let's be honest... it's absolutely unfair for people who can't, for very real reasons whether they be work, health whatever, queue for days at a time to be denied any chance at being close to the band. Especially when a lot of the time the people who *ARE* queuing early are seeing a lot of shows... i.e., going from town to town, always in the front while people who may only get one shot at a show are relegated to the back. This won't discourage that entirely, but it might help to an extent.

Agreeing with you, that is. Not the other people. In case that wasn't clear. It probably was! Yay lottery system!

I think it's terrible the band wasn't clear that this is how GA tickets would work before they went on sale. They aren't general admission tickets, they're actually randomized floor tickets. If it causes enough complaints I wouldn't be surprised if they change it back to the regular system. Not that that would help the people who are seeing them early on, though.

I'm rather short, so I never buy GA tickets, but I think if people do want to sit outside for a day to see the band they love up close they should have that option. I understand that doing the lottery system for ticket buying hopefully weeds out scalpers (although nothing totally weeds out scalpers), but I don't understand why the band would bother doing it for the actual concert.

I agree. I have GA's for Phoenix, and was so excited up until about ten minutes ago, reading about this 'new system'. I feel like I've been tricked.
