I think all of "Pop" got a bad rap when it was released. Its a solid, if different album. Discotheque, in specific, rocks pretty well while being very glittery pop-a-licious.

i really like this song, with the only exception to the ending (repeating of discotheque). its fun to sing along to and i love fast u2 songs, i think people dont give this song a lot of credit, but thats only the people i know.

I think Pop has become my favorite album by U2. I listened to it 2 times today...it's wonderful. Discotheque, while not my favorite song from the CD, is a great song. It's a U2 song that you can actually dance to, and not look like a complete idiot. I love the little riff in this song, right after the first verse. Personally, I like it so much that I really like the New Mix on the best of 1990-2000 better than the original. ^_^

Brilliant song, rocks my socks. I actually hated it in 1997, but I wasn't a U2 fan back then... once I became a U2 fan I noticed how awesome it actually is. :)  The guitar riff is just excellent, and it's *great* to sing along with - I also can't help dancing to it. Absolutely hilarious video too.

The "new mix" on the Best Of is an absolute disgrace and should be destroyed. How on *earth* can you have Discotheque without the Boom Cha's?!

Loved it when it first came out in 1997 (has it been eight years already!), and love it to this day. Pop is actually my second favorite album after Achtung Baby.

And I love the Hexidecimal Mix on Best of!!! It rocks me 10 times better than the other- tho I do miss the boom-chas. But that warped screech of music right after the high note makes me HOT!!
