And yes, the results are exactly what you'd expect them to be.

They should just take Pop off the worst list. Everyone always votes it for worst (I disagree, though).

I think Pop is amazing. I voted Unforgettable Fire as their worst, but eh, that's just me.

It aggravates me that The Joshua Tree always, always wins these things.

Yes, it is a fantastic album with some amazing songs, but I feel like casual fans always say that it's the best because it has the "hits" on it.

I'd bet a million dollars (which, sadly, I don't have, lol) that a good portion of the people (who are not huge fans that know nearly every U2 song in existence, etc) who say that JT is the best could not even name all the tracks on that album. They'd probably only know Streets, I Still Haven't Found, Without or Without You and maybe Bullet the Blue Sky -- four songs don't make an album.

I mean, I love all of The Joshua Tree -- I just feel like a lot of these voters are just voting for the hits rather than the whole picture.

Anyone else with me on this?

I think the tracks nobody knows about are some of the best on the album. "Red Hill Mining Town" and "In God's Country" are two of my favorites.

The first three are so overplayed, I'm probably just biased against them by now.

I can't name every song on Joshua Tree...but I can name most, though, probably about 90%.

Actually, Soul Preacher is U2's worst album :P lol

But! The Song Wake Up (part 1) is soooooooo good, I really love it! I think it's my favourite U2 song ever... No, not Wake Up Dead Man, I'm talking about Wake Up from the album Soul Preacher, it's an unreleased album...

I am so annoyed with the fact that Pop is always rated the worst U2 album among fans. I mean for crying out loud, it's one of the most brave and daring albums the guys ever released.
I would rate Pop in the top 5 albums they ever did. If anything it proved U2 to be one of the greatest groups of all time besides the obvious choices like Achtung Baby and the Joshua Tree(my two favorites).

I feel like people really just don't appreciate the lyrics on Pop. They hear all the electronics and judge it based on that -- causing them to miss some of U2's most personal and interesting lyrics.

I'd put Pop in my top 5 as well.

So did I... I can't believe *so* many people dislike Pop!  I don't understand what's not to love about it.

I don't agree with that list either

I'm another fan who loves Pop. Joshua Tree, while a very good album, isn't as good as everyone in the music industry raves it to be. I think Achtung Baby is their best, musically, vocally; everything. That's my 0.02 though. :)

Awesome! I'm a huge Faith fan (obviously).

And after checking out your profile, I see you're a big Kylie fan, which means you'd probably be amused to know that I named my iPod after her--because they're both sleek, sexy, and musical. :-) The full name is Kylie Kat (one of my friends insisted she be part of the name).

But um, yeah! That's way too much information. Oh, and I think I have to friend you.

Okay, done rambling now. :-)

Dance music like Pop just isn't to lots of people's taste. I don't like calling it the "worst" album, because I can admire the art and talent that went into it. I would however call it "my least favourite". Mind you, using that pedantic definition, I don't know what the worst album actually is.

I like their best of cds the best because all the good songs are on them. I love Joshua Tree, How to Dismantle and Atomic Bomb, all the best of's, and All That You Can't Leave Behind. I hate Pop!

No Pop love! I don't understand it. I never saw it as a 'dance' album, either... only Discotheque stood out as that for me. Come on, If God Will Send His Angels, PLEASE (!), Wake Up Dead Man, Gone, Last Night On Earth... it's one of the few U2 albums I can honestly not want to skip any songs on (HTDAAB and ATYCLB always fail this test, and sometimes Zooropa does). Pop is my second favorite album, right after JT. Achtung Baby has always ranked relatively low for me (after War and UF), but I guess I'm just weird.

I love Pop as well. I can't decide on a favourite...it changes, but October is defintely up there for me. And that's considered unconventional among U2 fans, because a lot of people don't like October as well. My least favourite (because as someone said...there are NO bad U2 albums) is Zooropa. I've actually just recently listened to it, and while I enjoy a couple of songs on it, I just can't seem to like it very much. Although it may grow on me in time.

Pop had the potential to be a really good album. The songwriting is great (Gone, If God Will Send His Angels, Do You Feel Loved, Please, Last Night on Earth). "Discoteque" and "Mofo" rock! What killed it for me was the production. It was too techno--it came off as the bastard child of "Achtung Baby" and "Zooropa". It was too overdone, Bono's vocals too distorted.

The over-the-top PopMart tour may have further soured public opinion on the album. Did the boys learn nothing from their mentor Bowie's Glass Spider tour?
