Bono for Pontiff @ 10:09 pm

slfcllednowhere:
There's an amusing (and occasionally infuriating) thing about Bono in the current issue of The Houston Press.

Is Bono a practising Catholic? I've read mixed things about his religious practices over the years.

Bono is Catholic when it's convenient. He's also happily non-denominational, Protestant, and possibly a number of ancient Japanese religions. You could say he's multi-denominational. I think I read an interview once where he said something like, he's got no problem walking into the cathedral down the street, or attending a hardcore Charismatic service, all Gospel and AAAMEN!

Or something to that effect. Possibly without the 'amen' part.

I see. That is the idea I had, but I just wanted to double check.

That was a pretty good article.

Actually, Bono has never said that he was Catholic that I know of.. he doesn't say what he is or what he isn't. I have heard that he is a member of a charismatic Presbyterian church out in Cali however. Even if he does go to or favor a particular donomination for his personal worship, he'd never press that on anyone. That's probably why it's not well known that he actually goes to this church, because he wouldn't even dream of offending any of us, or making any one think he was trying to push his "religion" (which he doesn't see it as "religion" in the first place).

As Ali said in an interview after getting pregnant for the fourth time: "Bono's always talking about how he's half Catholic and half Protestant. Now we know which half is Catholic."

Nah, I'd rather see Darth Vader as Pope.

"So they're getting older, subtler, weirder, more visibly fatigued."

And they're the ones who focused a huge part of the article around a passed out drunk man?

yeah whatever. funny, but they suck. U2 RULES!!!!!!!!!

We should pay little attention to this guy. He said ATYCLB sucked. Obviously his opinions aren't valid. :P

Actually, I'm willing to give him a lot of credit for that - it doesn't suck, but I don't think it's nearly the "classic" U2 album that so many proclaimed it to be when it came out.

But if he said it was a classic album when it came out, and is only now saying it sucked, then he's lame. *g*
