Song of The Day @ 06:18 pm

djmlm41:
I'm currently feelin: creative
I'm currently hearin: Smooth Rider- Dave Matthews Band

Today's Selection is...

"Beautiful Day" from All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000)

Thoughts: Though this song is long over played by now and I find it slightly boring when I hear it, you have to admit it is a wonderful song. It starts out normally and remains in a steady beat but the very end is the part that I think is the best, the beat is a lot faster and  a lot more catchy, Bono sounds wonderful when he starts to sing a bit more loudly and Adam's bass can be heard in all it's glory. Even though it isn't U2's best it still is a wonderful song.

This song consistently puts me in a good mood, but only when played loudly.

This is my favorite song.
It's a long story, but this song, while admittedly not the boys' best, is full of some of my best memories.

I agree, the end is the best. This song is best played loudly, and while jumping on your bed. It also has seems to have a really soothing effect on me when I'm upset.

Got a speeding ticket right after getting overpumped on this song while driving. Yeah, that wasn't good.

I've noticed it's very much not unlike a revamped Gloria (U2, of course, not Van Morrison).

It's not overplayed if you never listen to the radio.

Loved this song when the album first came out. Then grew a bit tired of it. Have fallen in love with it again in the last few months, on purpose actually. I quite liked the lyrics and wanted to use it in a writing project, so I purposely put it on a an iTunes playlist. Now I love it again. :)

I waffle on this one a bit. On the one hand, it's great and uplifting, and makes you smile. On the other? There's something missing - a little bit of oomph, maybe? When the album came out, I kept futzing with the bass level on my discman, trying to give it more oomph, but couldn't.

Also, it doesn't work for me all that well live. Not with this tour, anyway. But even with my complaints, I can't deny the heart behind the song.
