Live Aid @ 10:23 pm

_palepurple:
I just need to share this.

I was watching parts of the Live Aid DVD I got for my birthday earlier. Oh my god, is it amazing. But the part that made me practically lose it was when they were all singing "Do they know it's Christmas" and Freddie Mercury put his arm around Bono. Seriously for me that was like moons aligning, I lost and it and teared up. Both of them are such inspirations to me and have such beautiful voices. I was pretty much brought up on them.

It also made me think...besides the fact that I wish Freddie were still alive and he totally didn't deserve to be taken from this earth at such a young age, Freddie would have done a great job if he were to cover a U2 song. Even if he and Bono did a duet, too, I'm sure it would be beautiful. Their voices would meld so well.

What does everyone else think?

I watched Live Aid way back in 1985 on tv so it has a special place in my heart. It was when I really fell in love with U2.

A Freddie/Bono duet would of been unique....

heh....
it got rough later on, being both a U2 fan and a Queen fan, after the Sun City fiasco.

I was sitting in front of MTV when they announced Freddie had passed on. I screamed. I cried for days after....
...and cried more during the tribute concert shown on tv.

Seeing Brian and Roger taking part in the 46664 campaign, and seeing Brian and Bono standing together with Mandela, did help heal some of that for me.

I always wondered what U2 covering Queen might've sounded like... I can hear Edge singing '39, for example...
Freddie's range, I think.. he could've done some amazing things with Stay...

My U2 fandom started fulltime when I watched the Live Aid repeat on the 10th anniversary July 13th 1995. Happy days. :-D

U2 wont ever match that performance ever. But Queen did steel the show that day. Rockin! Every U2 fan should own that DVD.

Funny story courtesy of Brian May and Bono. Brian walked up and showered praise on U2's guitar player, The Hedge. It was relayed by Bono to a group of bystanders and myself in 1987. During Gloria one night, "This is the Hedge!" - Bono

The Wembley finale always gets to me :0)

You're probably right about a Freddie/Bono duet - they both have amazing voices. I love the duet Freddie did with David Bowie.
