I'm currently feelin: confused confused
I'm currently hearin: "My Generation" The Who

In less than 4 months, I'll be attending the Minneapolis show- of course, I'm extremely pumped to see U2- I haven't seen them since 1997, but someone help me out here:

Am I the only person in this world that likes Kings of Leon??? I feel like every time someone posts in this community, they make sure to mention how much they though KoL sucked. I'm a huge fan and have been since their first CD came out.

Does anyone else out there enjoy them or am I just way off base in liking this band???

you're way off...

no, j/k, I personally didn't like them too much though i think one or two song had potential if the singer could use, ya know, range ;-P and the bass is almost too heavy to make up for whatever else they lack.

you also have to remember that most of us JUST want to see U2, opening act be damned AND we know europe are getting a fooking a opening act,

but i wish you luck on finding fellow fans. Maybe check out an lj comm and see if you can bridge your favorites? :D

haha opening act be damned...

I know most people here are ONLY going to see u2...and quite frankly, although I've been a KoL fan since the "beginning" (2003), I've been a U2 fan MUCH longer. I grew up listening to them. And yeah, I'm straight up spending as much as I am to see the best band ever, but I almost feel bad for KoL since everyone says they suck live.

I guess everyone should just look at it this way- if the opening band blows, the headliner is going to sound THAT much better!

KoL are a bit more popular here in the UK than in their home country. That's not to say they are really big, but quite a few people like them. I don't particularly. I did when their first album came out, then I just got bored.

The only recording I've heard of KoL is that one that's on a car commercial. They don't sound bad.
They do NOT sound like that live. And that's the problem.
Live, the singer's voice is terribly whiney. *Terribly* It seems like they must've done a *lot* of work on his vocals in the mixing of the album.
Sorry.

Agreed. THey have about 5 songs that I quite like, but man, that guy's voice is painful live.

have you heard "Red Morning Light" or "California Waiting"?

"CA Waiting" was the first KoL song I ever heard...and it really doesn't sound like many of the other songs on that CD...but it's one of my favorites.

definitely get the CD!

i'm from around where they formed..

their recorded music is better than their live music. i found that the lead singer had very, very little personality live. it was a bit boring because of that. however, I've seen *A LOT* of people open up for U2 and they were NO WHERE NEAR the worst whatsoever!

I like a few of their songs but they don't really put on a good show...in my opinion, at least..they should go wild on stage, but they just kinda stand there.

Anyway the real reason i wanted to post is because I freakin LOVE your icon. Conesy!! the best. :)

Saw them at Bonnaroo. Saw them open for U2.

Still don't like them.

The band's incredibly tight, but the vocals? Painful. A security guy gave me ear plugs and they actually sounded halfway decent once I had them in, though. :)

ear plugs... i defintiely think that is the way to go. wish i had them! something about them live -- i am not sure, but louder wasn't the answer.

I bought the album out of curiousity, and the idea that "maybe" I would get at least used to them so it wouldn't be a painful experiance like everyone said it would be! Was a complete waste of money. In the end.. I also listened to them with ear plugs. I don't want to slam someones taste in music, but I guess it's all in what you define as such.. :P

Pshaw! What does it matter what other people think? You like what you like and let your freak flag fly, as Rob Thomas says!

I tried to like KoL, really I did. But whether it was the way the sound was just overwhelming, the way I couldn't really understand what the lead singer was singing, or what - it didn't work for me at all.

Musically, I'm with them a little. However, I can't get into it all the way unless the vocals work for me. That's as big as anything.

I've heard Molly's Chambers on the radio and while I liked the music, again - the vocals just did nothing for me.
