Huh... That's quite an interesting line-up. I can't wait for Paul McCartney to do a duet with The Cure...

Apparently there's a rumour that Paul McCartney and U2 will perform Sgt Pepper's together?!

I've been searching high and low for this info!! So far, I've found out it'll be free admission, held in Hyde Park, and "tickets will be distributed via a text message lottery. Details of how to enter will be announced on Monday [June 6]." I believe that came from LaunchUK.

Now if only I could figure out how to get in that lottery when I'm not even in the same country code as the concert, I'd be set...

Text message lottery?

Guess that screws it for the people who don't have anything like that.

I don't like the idea of a text message lottery at all. It hoses non-UK people, and you KNOW there will be people who take advantage of that and stick their won tix on eBay for insane prices.

What would be nice: everyone who wants tix fills in an online form that contains their name, address, all that good stuff, etc. Then, to claim their tickets if they win, people must show passport/ID *and* a print-out of the form. The name on the passport/ID must match the online form that both the person and the promoter show. No match, no dice.

*sigh*

This is going to make me a basketcase. I will be in town...must see the show!

arrhh but the UK doesn't have compulsary ID cards and most other ID can be easily forged or stolen anyway! An awful lot of the population don't have passports as we don't go out of this fair isle!

If I lived in London, I can very easily see myself never leaving town!

This whole thing is going to make me a headcase...especially if I see crazy eBay auctions. I've loved eBay in the past (and now too...it's been extremely instrumental in feeding my vintage china fetish), but when people get reamed, it makes me crazy!

Where in the UK are you?

There has been a load more info come out on this seen in the Evening Standard last night. Text entries will cost £1.50. You have to supply an answer to a multiple choice question and then the lucky ones will get sent a website address and code to get on there and then tickets are collected from a local store ..... all fun and games!

I'll track it down and post to main group!

hehehehe...I would never label myself as a goth, but other people tend to. I think I'm more "indie" or "not of the mainstream" than anything, but much of the music I like, the clubs I go to, the events I attend (five Convergences, planned one, would love to go to Whitby), and some of the clothes I wear definitely lean toward the "dark side." ;)

I'll probably take my wife and kids to the Philly show, since we can't make it to London. I always wanted to see Dave Matthew's Band live, and my 8-year-old daughter is obsessed with Will Smith, who is hosting.

Still, it is estimated about 2.5 million people will show up. Maybe that's a combination of all of the concerts? I certainly hope so.

Text lottery "codes" and entry requirements will be issued via UK radio, tv and newspapers on that day ... which means they will be available pretty quickly on LJ communities etc

You text the "code" then 7 days later ALL texts will be entered into the draw and each winning text will then receive an allocation of 2 tickets...

It looks like it will allow people a length of time to enter and not just the "first" 50,000!
