Song of the Day @ 09:06 am

zoostation:
I'm currently feelin: chipper chipper
I'm currently hearin: Get Me Outta Here - Jet

Today's Selection is...

October from "October"

KISS.
Short for Keep It Simple Stupid.
u2 never cease to amaze me. What is the shortest song ever turns out to be one of the most beautiful piano pieces I've ever heard. I think I've heard my godmother playing this tune on the piano before when I was like 6. Now I'm going to find the sheet music/learn it by ear.
It's quiet. It's solemn, it's free standing on its own. I love the way it begins to crescendo at the end and then dies off completely.
Bono's (what I like to call) puppy voice is in full action here. The lyrics are so simple, again applicable to any situation or anybody. Jesus, your girlfriend, a war. Take your pick. It all fits.
Award? If the piano is played by Edge, then it goes to him.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com Aww...see? Boredom finally killed me and I actually made awards.

October and the trees are stripped bare
Of all they wear.
What do I care?

October and kingdoms rise
And kingdoms fall
But you go on
And on.

Ay Yesus. That white pixel in the award is going to drive me nuts.

This is a beautiful, haunting little track, my favourite from the album along with Gloria. That piano intro conjures up such images. It's such a simple song that there isn't much to say about it, but it's striking... bleak and hopeful at the same time.

LOVE THIS SONG!! In fact, I can never listen to it just once, but always end up playing it at least ten times back to back before moving on to the next ditty. It's so very profound and yet profoundly simple! I think it would be the most fantastic emotional piece live!
