Hello Hello!!

August 30th, 2001

Having a hard time finding the.... @ 05:31 pm

I'm currently feelin: drained drained
I'm currently hearin: U2 - Like A Song

....Elevation CD single with live B-sides. I think Last Night On Earth from 1998 in Mexico City is among them. So far, no luck.
I have scored a couple of rare finds however. The French released Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of single that contains:
1. Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
2. Big Girls Are Best
3. All I Want Is You (live in Paris, 10/19/00)
4. Even Better Than The Real Thing (live in Paris, 10/19/00)

And don't forget about this CD single:
1. Beautiful Day
2. The Ground Beneath Her Feet
3. I Remember You (live in NY 12/5/00)
4. New York (live in NY 12/5/00)
5. I Will Follow (live in NY 12/5/00)
6. Beautiful Day
7. Don't Take Your Guns To Town

Fabulous stuff. I feel we Americans are getting screwed because we haven't seen one solitary domestic CD single released yet from ALL THAT YOU CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND.

I can't wait until they announce the dates and venues for the next US leg of the tour. Maybe I'll get to hear Out Of Control live this time.

I got my Elevation singles from Australia. One of them has five different mixes of Elevation and the other one has two different mixes of Elevation plus Don't Take Your Guns To Town (from the tribute to Johnny Cash) and I Remember You and New York live from Irving Plaza.

Which live B-sides are you looking for?

Also, the other single you talk about isn't really a single, it was a freebie in the Sunday Times over in Ireland about two or three months ago.

And, where in the US are you from? I'm from California and can't wait until they announce the tours dates either! I was rather lucky though and heard Out of Control when I took a trip to Boston to meet other U2 internet friends and do all four shows :D

I am in Walnut Creek, east of San Francisco

This is the CD single I am looking for:

CD 1 (CIDX780/588673-2)
Elevation (Tomb Raider Mix)
Last Night On Earth (Live from Mexico City)
Don't Take Your Guns To Town

I already have the live versions of New York, and I Remember You. I can't wait until they release their live DVD from the Boston concerts. (I bet you knew that one already.) I will be able to transfer the audio to CD courtesy of my stereo CD copier and mixing board. I hope Out Of Control, Party Girl, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bad, The Sweetest Thing, and The Ground Beneath Her Feet are all on it. *crossing fingers*
Thanks for the info on the Sunday times CD promo. I bought it for $9.99 in Berkeley. I was so excited. I have never heard a bad live U2 track yet in their 21 years. I can't believe I've been a fan of theirs for 19 of them. I was 12.
Wow! You got to see them 4X in Boston! That must have been amazing. Didn't they do Party Girl there in one of those shows? That's another must hear. I have a great sounding copy of 11 O Clock Tick Tock on CD from the Irving Plaza show from late last year. Not the same energy to it like in the old days, but still pretty cool nonetheless. Can I add you as a LJ friend??

Re: I am in Walnut Creek, east of San Francisco

Howdy neighbor! (Well, kinda :) I'm just down in Sunnyvale, so about an hour or so away.

The two Elevation singles I have are 588699-2 and 588680-2. Mine doesn't have the Last Night on Earth. Isn't that on Hasta La Vista, Baby? Whoops, nope. I just checked and it isn't.

I hadn't thought about being about to copy the DVD, but then I already have the four Boston shows on CD and really don't need another copy. Party Girl was pretty incredible. RockinRollBirdie and I had nosebleed seats for the last show and so we were stuck with a bunch of duds. I really don't know why some of those people were there. She and I were rocking the whole time, but when they went into Party Girl we were jumping up and down and singing at the top of our lungs! The people around us didn't even know the song!

Did you go to both San Jose shows? Or just one? I have a great copy of the second show if you want it.

And yes, you can add me as a friend. Do you mind if I add you?

Nice to meet you Lynne in Sunnyvale

My name is Ray. Of course you may add me. I have been waiting to meet someone who has a copy of HASTA LA VISTA BABY. I'm guessing you do?? A copy of the Boston show with Out Of Control would be awesome! The only thing I could offer you would be a mix of their music, complete with artwork. I don't collect bootlegs really. I only have 2 by U2. One is a typical 1983 concert that doesn't say where. Another is from 1988 or 1989, and I only know it was from Eastern Europe. I have most of their CD singles with B-sides. I do have A Celebration and the studio version of 11 O' Clock Tick Tock on CD if you need them.
My friends and I could only get tickets to the 2nd SJ show. I refuse to buy from scalpers. Unless it were David Bowie. I think at this point in his career, that wouldn't be necessary. I could be wrong. Sounds like you had a great time in Boston. I have never flown anywhere just to see a concert. Maybe someday, when I have a huge savings account, I may do something like that. I love seeing concerts and I love to travel. Being in debt is not for me, so charging something like that isn't very appealing. I'm not all that whimsical I'm afraid. Look froward to hearing back from you.

Nice to meet you Ray in Walnut Creek!

Yeah, I have both of those CD's. I can copy them for you in the next week or so and send them out. Send me your address (to LSands11@yahoo.com). I have some b&p's I need to finish for some people on the newsgroups but I should be done by next week and then I can copy those shows for you.

Boston was simply incredible! You can read all about it starting here. I'm a real saver when it comes to money. So, I had all the money for the trip upfront. And yes, this was the first time I have ever done something crazy like fly out to meet six girls I've only talked to online just so we can go to U2 concerts :) But, I am so glad I did it because it was just soooo great!

The best way to get U2 tickets is from their fan club. I don't think they are going to sell them through Propoganda for the third leg, but they did for the first leg. That is how we got GA tickets for a couple of nights in Boston. The night we had nosebleeds is cuz we had to buy them through TicketBastard. What a nightmare that is!

Gotta go to work! See ya.

Re: Domestic Single Releases

'Stuck in a Moment' is on its way to the U.S.! In fact, the ACOUSTIC version of this song is being played in some radiostations across the country already:)). Check out atu2.com for a Real Player download version of the song. I suppose the singles were released elsewhere other than America to compensate for the lack of tourdates in most countries this time around. U2 figured they're already spoiling the U.S. by touring for the 1st and now the 3rd leg...so I suppose releasing all singles here would be too much overkill in terms of their marketing...:). Just a thought.

Thank you hapavox

I'll go check that out. I remember reading on the website that Chicago had some great U2 shows earlier this year. Maybe we will be lucky and their US label will put out something for us. HOW ABOUT IT??!!

elevation single w/live tracks

I saw the Elevation single with the live tracks at Tower Records yesterday in Austin, Tx. It's the first time I've seen it. I'm guessing that you could probably order it from a Tower near you (or online?). Tower also had the Elevation single with the remixes (including the Influx remix). It has the blue-cover single, too... I think that's the one with Don't Take your Guns to Town, but I could be wrong (i'm not at home right now, so I can't check).

the price for the single you're looking for is $10.

Re: elevation single w/live tracks

Wow, I've been to that Tower Records. I bought a magazine and the Placebo 'Slave To The Wage' CD single. Far out! I also went to Waterloo, and bought an Orchestral Manoeuveres In The Dark BBC sessions CD. There was 2 other CD stores in Austin I went to. I found BOYS AND GIRLS by Bryan Ferry, 20,000 WATTS RSL by Midnight Oil, and an awesome Bowie poster of the ZIGGY STARDUST album cover at one of them.
I was there back in March, hanging with a Bowienetter and mzred.
Thanks for the info. I'll check my local Tower Records in Concord, CA tomorrow. They had a different CD for Elevation, which is now out of stock. They sell at the import CD singles here for $7.99.
