These things are so stupid. *giggles* My favorite band against my second favorite amuses me no end, though. *votes for U2*

Can I just go a rant here and say that I'm really annoyed how so many people are trying to tout Green Day as the New U2? American Idiot is a great political album and Green Day are a great band, but U2 made that album in 1983 when they were 22 and 23, not 32 and 33. And U2 has always been much more musically sophisticated than the majority of their post-punk brethren, and that includes Green Day's pop-punk. Saying Green Day are carrying the U2 torch because they write political music now is like saying Limp Bizkit are the new Nirvana because they both had songs about teen angst and alienation.

Not that this has anything to do with your post. I think I just woke up on the wrong side and all that. Sorry. *blushes*

Green Day are good but not great. In my opinion they can't amount up to U2. If everyone in the world knew about this poll U2 would win. I don't hate Green Day it's just their music is very bland sometimes and it's also annoyingly overplayed. U2 always sounds fresh.

i just don't see how you can say green day and u2 are similar. how can they put these two bands up against each other? they're practically different genres of music. wow so green day made a political album, they must be like U2 osdfihgdsh. its no contest u2 would beat green day, hands down. blah whatever. I respect Green Day for American Idiot. . .

But all you have to do is look at Green Day's pathetic "performance" of "We Are The Champions" on Live8 to see how far the band has to go. U2 NEVER would have done something as awful as that, even when they were Green Day's age.

Hehe...especially because they were doing Achtung Baby and Zooropa when they were Green Day's age. Unless it was some ironic Fly moment Bono pulled out, but I doubt that, too, seeing as Freddie Mercury was only recently deceased at that point.
