chelsea_dollsaid:I still hate the "You're too young to be a fan. You can't appreciate it the way we do...we were there, man." Okay, I agree that they have a bit of an advantage because they experienced the music when it was new and fresh. But when I first heard the early stuff, it was new and fresh to me and just as exciting...why can't the younger fans have the same enthusiasm?

You know, I really have a hard time understanding people who start throwing albums out, or stop listening to them, just 'cause they're not 'new' any more. No matter what the music is. I know people who've gone through their music and tossed stuff that they consider "old"--like shallow trendies throwing out perfectly good clothes because "Oh, I bought that last year...."

If it's good music, it doesn't get old, it doesn't get stale, it doesn't age (at least, not for a very long time).

I've been a U2 fan for ages (I was born about the time Bono was getting ready to turn 11); one of the things I love about younger U2 fans is that they don't dismiss the early stuff. They know, or learn, that good music is not like magazines--you don't throw it out or dismiss it just 'cause it didn't come out last week.

Let's hear it for the smart young music fans---YAAAAYYY!!!
