The next single...Miracle Drug? @ 11:28 am

hfrogg451:
I'm currently feelin: busy
I'm currently hearin: Miracle Drug-U2

I really think the next single ought to be, "Miracle Drug". I think it is a gorgeous song with good energy, has a good message which can apply to many different people and places and isn't as preachy as say, "crumbs from your table." I love the singles they've released so far, although I don't think "City of Blinding Lights" is doing as well as it could, but I really think they could hit the mark with "Miracle Drug." The song just rocks hardcore!!!

I think the next single will probably end up being Miracle Drug..which i dont have a problem with, its an awesome song.

this might be a stretch, but it would be amazing if Original of the species was the next single...that song rocks my socks :)

Oh, I could not agree with you more, "Original of the Species" is just a lush and athaem-like song. I can just hear him singing to Holly throughout the song, and I think it be an amazing single. But, I think it's to long and free wheeling for most standard (and standarized, boring) pop commerical radio stations around the US. Maybe the UK, Europe, and Asia would be more daring but the US only cares about what sells, so if it is to long or unconventional, they just won't dig it.

Honestly, as great as U2 is and as much as Americans love them just as much as the next continent... I think their music is too intellectually superior for conventional US radio.

Hmmm, scratch that, it sounds really snobby and I hate when people plug their bands like that. But I can't think of any other way to describe it. I just don't think that a lot of Americans have the right mindset to be blown away by something like "Original of the Species" or anything off of Atomic Bomb really, with the exception of "Vertigo" which just has a catchy tune. Unless you have a personal connection with the songs on that album, it's kind of hard to "get" them, sort of. I don't know, those are just my thoughts. I'm kind of pessimistic about Americans, I guess. :/

No worries. I'm an American and I'm pessimistic about Americans most of the time.

I refuse to listen to the radio anymore because in the U.S. almost all the stations are basically owned by one or two major media corporations so it's not really about music anymore. They just repeat the same crap music over and over again until it's hammered into the heads of the zombie-like masses that they really need to buy Popstar X's CD and any other merchandise they can stick that person's face on. Ack!

America doesn't just have Top 40 stations! I live next to this great classic rock station that will play songs like 'Stairway to Heaven,' 'Hey Jude,' and yes, 'Where the Streets Have No Name' in their entirety. I first heard 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' on that station; a very long time ago.

I swear, you are right on the mark about the so-called adult contemporary stations. The one near me has an extremely short playlist. Typically:

Starting an hour:

1. Five for Fighting, Superman 2. Coldplay, Clocks, 3. Train. Calling All Angels 4. Our Lady Peace...

Then at the end of the hour, I've heard the same crappy O Town song twice, and Train is rolling in again. By the end of the day, I've probably heard the same song by The Calling five times, and Train ten times. As a ritual, they play without fail the same Three Doors Down song every hour in the day.

I love Miracle Drug, I was surprised that it hasn't really been mentioned much.

Miracle Drug

I know that this is one of my top 2 or 3 songs on this album! Yes, that can be changed based on my mood and what thoughts are running through my head. However, this has got to be the next one released... It is among the best of what this entire album has to offer! It impresses me on how good that the song and the message can be and truly is.

What other ones involve everything U2 is about and also doesn't have a specific audience that it is intended for? It will be a great choice, if it is picked! It also seems to not get all the attention that many of the others are getting...
