Hello Hello!!

Poor Edge... @ 02:13 pm

bonoffee:
"'Love Is Blindness' is really something else. And I remember Edge played the solo at the end of this. I was pushing him and pushing him, and he played until the strings fell off. Actually, you'll hear strings snapping during the solo towards the end. He was, I think, in tears on the inside, and the outside was just raging."

Every time I read that it makes me sad :( That song is the most brilliant expression of pain.

EDIT: This is a quote from Bono. I should have said. Though you probably figured that. :)

It's utterly brilliant, isn't it? So dark. I can't listen too often though!

Wow.
I've always thought that song resonated amazingly with my darkest moods, and I've never even heard that quote about Edge before.

I agree. I have depression and sometimes although it's the worst thing really to do for me, I put that song on and just let it take me out of the mood. It's like catharsis.

I listened to it three times and didn't hear the strings snapping. *shrug*
But OUCH nonetheless.
I'm so scared about tuning my guitar sometimes cause I feel the lines getting taut. I think I'd die if one snapped on my hand.
I don't even like balloons popping near me.

*pets Edge*

Well you know Bono, he could always be exaggerating about the strings ;)

I snapped one of my guitar strings once. Scared the shit outta me. Haven't played since, lol. :|

i always thought that this song was about bono and a breakup of his own, even when i saw them in concert in the 80's...bono had a girl up on stage dancing with him in this song and the way he held on to her and the anguish in his voice for this song, i truly thought it was 'all about him' until i read that quote a few weeks ago in the Bono book. Poor Edge. There is alot of pain in that song for sure, but its still one of my favorite U2 songs even after all this time.

Can I make a confession right now?
*lowers head*
I hadn't heard that song at all -- until I read this quote today and downloaded the song! And now I'm sitting here for maybe an hour and can't stop listening to it, it's so beautifully sad it brings me closer to tears the longer I hear it. And having that Bono quote in mind now makes it even more intense... what a wonderful song *sigh*

Oh that's alright! Just as long as you get your hands on Achtung Baby cause it's just that excellent.
To continue the trend of honesty, I feel that LIB is one of the weakest songs on the album. I can understand how it's passionate for Edge, but it's honestly a song I've only heard 3 or 4 times, ever. Maybe it will sink in for me one day. "Acrobat" just got into my system, and I can't let go.

i just wanted to say that i think this is a really nice group of people.

i love that song too, on a related note, i've never really liked 'running to stand still' until i read it was about a heroin addict girl, and i started listening to the lyrics and now i can't stop listening to it. their songs become so much more beautiful to me once i understand a little bit of meaning behind them.

The exact same thing happened to me with that song! I've been watching the "Rattle & Hum" version of it over and over again ever since I learned that.
