Was in my local specialist/2nd CD store in Ipswich at lunchtime, flickign through the U2 section and came across this ratehr bizarre tribute album called "We Will Follow" released in 1999 on Cleopatra Records (London). I am a former old school goth and used to listen to a lot of these bands...and I'm just imagining their take on these songs. :S

I still lurk in Goth circles and thats the main reason I picked up the album as some of those acts just appear to be so "wrong" to be recording U2 songs, will certainly be very interesting seeing their interpretations of them

I'm interested to hear the Mission UK track. I always really liked them, and I think their take on All I Want Is You should be pretty decent, as it's a very moody and atmospheric song.

It is definitely her. A couple years back I downloaded that song cause I was so curious but was a little disturbed by it. It wasn't really that bad, it was just weird and out of character.

Yousendit is really straightforward (just put in your own email address, or I think you can leave that part blank)... I'd be interested to hear some of the tracks you think are decent!

Cleopatra released a Industrial tribute to the Smashing Pumpkins and that was pretty good. I'm going to have to get this. My inner goth/rivet head wants it.

its not good its Karaoke u2 done badly ... there are some seriously weird versions of the songs on here including 2 out and out "ebm dance tracks" as well as goth-eltronica-industrial and Rockabilly.

Some of the tracks work really well .. One sucked tho but thats cause its a special song to me and this version has no of the "soul or heart" to it

I saw this in a record store once and just about died laughing. It's an interesting concept but I'm not sure if it was pulled off very well - I almost bought it but now I think I'm glad I didn't.

Okay, that's *really* creepy that you did that yesterday, because I did exactly the same thing at my used book/music/movie store yesterday. And I had the same reaction as to the artists and song selections, but I didn't buy it because it scared me.

*goes to make sure you're not bugging my house* ;)

I have the U2 string tribute "Strung Out on U2". Is that better or worse? :-X

OK, I haven't heard this punk tribute, but judging by their reactions to "We Will Follow", Strung Out must be better! I have it and I think it's awesome. Then again, I'm a cellist-geek. :D

Yep I have that cd..... its known in some circles as The Gothic Tribute to U2 (with good reason). :) I *love* goth, ebm, 80s, etc... and of course U2 is my fav band, but I do NOT like this cd AT ALL. go figure, lol...

I like just over half the tracks 3 or 4 really suck big time as they don't get the emotion or feel right, Numb & Discotheque especially but then I'm not a great fan of the originals, Numb could have been done a lot darker and morbid, One has just go no real "soul" to it With Or Without is just Karaoke U2. Bang Tango and Intra-Venus are just wrong!

But do really like the versions of New Years Day (pirists probably have a contract out on FLA!!), Pride, Dead or Alives take on - Even Better Than The Real Thing, All I Want Is You, Sunday Bloody Sunday (poss best track on there its just "dirty"), October abnd Desire

I bought this when I was 17 or so. Some of the tracks are pretty cool (my favorite is Razed In Black's version of Pride) and some are just godawful :)
