Track-by-track comparisons: #7 @ 07:46 pm

canadanne:
I'm currently feelin: sleepy sleepy

Wow, yesterday's poll was by far the closest yet... in fact we still don't have a clear winner!  At the moment, So Cruel and In A Little While are tying for the lead, and Red Hill Mining Town is only 3 votes behind. I'm thrilled that it's my top three choices that are fighting it out - maybe they're all winners! :)  I'm pleasantly surprised by just how many votes In A Little While has been getting... I know *I* adore it, but I had no idea it was quite this popular. Feel free to keep voting if you haven't already done so - I'll check back at the end of the series and see what the final result was. Will anybody vote for 4th Of July?!

Today: which U2 song puts you in seventh heaven?

Poll #581237 Best track #7

What's the best track #7 on a U2 album?

The Ocean
0(0.0%)
October
6(3.3%)
Two Hearts Beat As One
5(2.8%)
Bad
90(49.7%)
In God's Country
22(12.2%)
Freedom For My People
1(0.6%)
The Fly
25(13.8%)
Some Days Are Better Than Others
3(1.7%)
Gone
14(7.7%)
Wild Honey
6(3.3%)
A Man And A Woman
9(5.0%)
(I did consider skipping past Freedom For My People since it isn't actually U2, but meh, that would totally change the rules and defeat the object of the track-by-track comparisons. So it's there. I wonder if anyone will vote for it!!)

Nrgh, Bad is a very good song and The Fly rocks... but A Man And A Woman is just too gorgeous *not* to vote for. That one gets me right in the heart every time.

I think I can guess which track is going to win by a mile though!

Some fillers, and two unbelievable songs, but clearly it is Bad over The Fly. Bad is right up there with Streets for BEST SONG EVER.

For me, there is absolutely no contest on this one. 'Bad' has been my favorite song in the world for about... well, for as long as I can remember having a favorite song, so fourteen/fifteen years? (Hey, it's a long time if you're 23. ;) )

Is there even any doubt about which way this one is going to go?

Without a shadow of a doubt, Bad. Behind Streets, it's the best song ever made.

I had to choose between "Bad" and "Gone". canadanne, you're really not making this easy on some of us. ;)

"Gone" won out though. Not that it matters by the looks of the results so far...

"Freedom For My People" isn't even performed by U2. I'm telling you, R&H isn't going to do very well in this series of polls until we go over track 11. From there to seventeen, it should do quite well, however.

"Bad". No question.
I love screaming to that song in my car. "TO LET IT GO, AND SO TO FADE AWAY! I'M WIDE AWAKE!!!!!!!

Finally! A song I vote for that will actually win!

Yeah, Bad's too much of a iconic song to not win by a longshot. It has my vote. But hey, October, In God's Country, and The Fly are all great songs, so i'm rooting a little bit for them as well. I really don't mean to offend, but...Some Days are Better Than Others? A MAN AND A WOMAN?!?!? Sorry, i agree with the @u2.com guy on that one...

Easy! EASY! Ah God yay an EASY one! *skips about merrily*

THE FLY is the result from the Kat jury. Seriously. If there was like, a U2 song emergency and I could only take five songs with me forever more, The Fly would be one of them. In fact it's probably my 2nd fave U2 song of all time in the world ever after One. It just ROCKS so, so much. There are few words to describe how much I am in love with Edge's guitar on that record, and the whole vocal, clever lyric, sense of 'phone call from Hell' - tis all bloody brilliant and none of those others even come close in my mind. Yeah, T'Fly, dude. *waves a banner*

But, like, I do love Bad as well. Just not nearly as much. ;)
