Hello Hello!!

should I? @ 02:30 pm

starbucksmanic:
I'm currently feelin: morose morose
I'm currently hearin: Kite

A kid I went to church with died today as a result of a gun accident. I want to do what I can and I don't want to do it in the wrong way, ie "that must have been so horrible. please relate every detail of what happened!" But I'm listening to Kite right now and it fits so beautifully... I really, really want to burn her mother a CD with that song on it.

How do you think that would go over? I mean, if your kid DIES, would you want some teenager you barely know to hand you a CD of all things, acting like it will solve all your problems? Then again, the song could make her feel a little better. Please give me your opinion on this...

I've heard that when someone dies, it's always best just to do things for the family. A lot of times people feel uncomfortable or worried that they'll do the wrong thing, but honestly, anything done with a giving, compassionate spirit will be taken as it was meant.

I'm sure the mother would appreciate knowing that her child affected your life enough to make you want to do something nice for her. Even if she never listens to the CD, it's still the thought and I'm sure it will give her what little comfort anything can in this situation.

At least, that's my opinion, not to mention music can be healing.

Personally, I think it's a wonderful and very heartfelt gesture. You don't need to speak words to convey how you feel. A gift or even a hug speaks volumes. Do it! ^^

I'd suggest bundling a package together. I don't think they'd find it strange or inappropriate one bit if a nice CD were nestled in a gift basket.

Maybe you could make it, and include a little note or tell her, "this song makes me think of *insert name here*" or something.

That is so sad...

For me, even if it was someone I did not know well. If they knew my child, and took the time to make such a beautiful thing such as a simple CD for comfort, it would comfort me. It also would be helpful to know that people do care.

I would do it, and maybe just put a little note with it, or give it to her and let her know your thoughts or prayers are with her, and you made this because you were thinking about her.

I know several people (not all U2 fans) who love Kite, because it makes them think of people who have died. The lyrics are so appropriate, especially to a Christian (I know that this is not goodbye). In fact, I was talking to one of those friends an hour or so ago about it... how weird is that! I think you should do it. I listened to the song loads earlier this year when a friend of mine died.

Having lost my oldest brother at a young age, I highly suggest it. I've always thought that music has certain qualities about it that can assist us in healing or grieving. Also, I'm sure she'd appreciate your compassion.
