Hello Hello!!

Newbie with a concert question. @ 02:40 pm

what_if:
I'm currently feelin: excited excited

I'm going to see U2 @ the Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan, and I got floor tickets for the first time. How early should I arrive to wait in line to get reasonably close to the stage? I don't want to wait 12 hours to be the first person in line, but I would like to be close enough to be wow-ed. Also can we bring chairs while we wait in line, and then have one person run them back to the car before the show? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You could be in the very back and not be able to see a thing and you'll be wow-ed. You want to get close to the stage? 12-16 hours is usually the best bet to get anything guaranteed unless you want to take your chance with getting scanned into the ellipse.

You can take anything (legal) into the GA line, when they lines split (usually a couple of hours before the show) or when you have to move your cars, it's generally a good time to pack everything away.

There have been a million posts like this, read back for what's been said.

Ellipse would be good, yes?

If I show up 7 hours, I'm clearly not next to the stage, but I'd still be in the top 1/3 to 1/2 of people? Or no?

Yeah, sorry if I'm reposting a common question, I read back awhile and didn't see it, figured everyone was a regular attendee and didn't need to ask.

Thanks for your help.

We got in line at 5am, and were 27th in line (5/22 in Philly). We got right up at the ellipse, close to the tip. I dunno what time the people behind us got in line.

I'll be there for the show on the 24th. I'm showing up sometime between midnight and 5am, and hoping for the best. I'd say get there before noon in order to have close spaces. Just a warning: the staff of the Palace are very, very difficult to deal with, so we're still not sure exactly where we'll be allowed to line up. If you're really interested, there's a whole thread going about it at Interference here.

thanks very much for the info, it looks like 2pm is the time people can get on the property... that's fine by me... no bathroom breaks seems kinda silly though.

When I had GA, I wasn't able to get there until 11:00 and there were at least 100 people in front of us. However, we got scanned into The Ellipse and ended up dead front and center. We got really lucky, but chances are you won't want to risk it - so show up as early as possible. If we hadn't made it into The Ellipse, we would have had crap seats!
