My U2, first concert in my lifetime ever! @ 11:27 pm

whatsername_31:
I'm currently feelin: grateful grateful

We tooj the five hour drive to Dallas. I was calm. We checked into the hotel. I was calm. We got to the venue early, decided there was no way we were gonna get better tickets, so we bought shirts and stuff. By then I am starting to get a bit excited. By the time we are on teh bus that shuttled us from the restaurant we ate at, I am a spaz!!

We got there, and literally got Vertigo. The stairs we SO steep. We actually ended up trading tickets with a couple of guys, wnd were able to sit up a little higher, but with a wall in front of us. We had a great view being up that high actually. No trouble seeing Bono's face, or any band members.

When they came out on stage, I knew it was real. now I know this may sound silly, but remember this was my first concert ever, and I won't go into it, but I have been through some really bad stuff in the last year. So when they came out, and "City of Blinding Lights started" I started crying. From sheer joy. By the second song I had completely lost any fear of heights, and was standing there screaming and and dancing and singing my heart out.

It was amazing to hear the audience singing with the band...to be in a room full of that much positive energy. Bono's voice was absolutely amazing. I am now a firm believer one can not appreciate his voice until you see him live.

The funniest thing that happened was I saw Bono coming when he came to our side of the stage, and spazzed, I saw Adam and spazzed. Somehow the Edge snuck by me, then I looked down and saw him and starting screaming " OMG it's the EDGE. EDGE EDGE I LOVE YOU"..ROFLMAO!! Yeah I kinda freaked out.

It was the best night of my life. And it put me at total peace about the loss of my friend, and a smile on my friend Erin's face...

The whole thing was the best experience I have ever had. God was in the building, and Bono was his poet.

There's nothing in the world quite like that first U2 concert. Good for you :)

And it put me at total peace about the loss of my friend

I'm very sorry to hear this. But i would think a night with Bono and the gang would be optimal for coming to peace. Peace be with you.

It really did put me at peace. My friend Erin was much closer to Hillary, the friend we lost, but I could tell it helped her greatly. It was wonderful to see her smile.

It was the most amazing experience of my life. I really hope I get to see them again someday...like their next tour.

Don't be embarassed-my first U2 show was this year as well-Seattle 2. When they played Beautiful Day, I just lost it and started bawling. ::hugs:: I'm glad the show helped you deal with your grief.

it was the best thing ever...all day I have been singing "City of Blinding Lights"...for some reason it is stuck in my head..I guess because they opened with it. I loved the song before, but now it has new meaning.

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, but I'm happy that U2 could put you at ease. And for a first concert ever, I couldn't think of a better choice! I have to warn you, you may never hear "City of Blinding Lights" the same way ever again. Every time that song comes on, the imagery comes flooding back into my head and I almost start losing it.

I'm glad you got to see the most amazing live band ever. :)

I listened to "City of Blinding Lights" about a million times yesterday. It reminds me so much of that first feeling, the moment when they came on stage, the lights, and my first real life encounter with Bono and The Edge..being right there...Larry's drumming, and Adams bass pounding.

Somehow this song makes the experience real each time I hear it.

I'm so glad you had a good time in Dallas! U2 is simply an amazing live band! Unfortunately they are sold out in Omaha and St.Louis so I won't be able to see them this year. : (

On one hand I'm angry I can't see them. But on the other hand I am happy that my favorite band can still sell out arenas.

Enough about me. I'm glad that you got to experience U2 live. : )

Man that sucks that you don't get to go.

I remember how that feels. I wanted to go to the elevation tour, but we could not get tickets. I had eaten Raman noodles for a month to sabe the money:-(

Yeah they still sell uot arenas. I think they always will...best rock band ever. To me they are on the same level as The Beatles now...I can not pick between them anymore.
