Venue camera policey @ 04:56 am

arcmorality:
I'm currently feelin: hopeful hopeful

Any of you guys been to any of these venues listed below? If so, can you tell me how hard it is to get a digital camera in? I'm coming over for these shows from the UK, so I've not done these venues before. Would prefer to know before hand which venues I may need to leave my camera in my hotel room!

I think the main thing I want to know is if any of these use airport style scanners?

Boston Bank North Garden
Madison Square Garden - Depeche Mode shows, but I'm sure there's many DM fans on here!
Buffalo HSBC Arena
Cleveland Quicken Loans Arena
St Louis Savvis Center
Omaha Qwest Arena
Salt Lake City Delta Arena
Portland Rose Garden

Also any of you attending the @U2 party in Portland?

They let pretty much anything into the TD Banknorth Garden provided there's 1) no "professional" equipment (e.g. lenses larger than 4") or 2) big honking flashes. ESPECIALLY flashes.
Don't wag it in their faces, be subtle, and they don't stop you. Me and my big-as-a-brick Nikon Coolpix 4300 got no trouble at all.

Great, that sounds sensible enough! I'm just taking a run of the mill fuji camera, certainly nothing pro. Thanks for that! I'll tick that one off as an ok.

Hallo! Boston will allow non-professional cameras into the Garden. I kept mine at the bottom of my purse, and had no problems using it. What night are you going?

I'm going to both nights. Yeah I suspect I'll hide my camera deep inside a pocket, it wont be obvious at all. As long as they dont scan people for cameras I should be ok. Thanks!

I've never heard of any venues not allowing cameras, as long as they aren't professional-grade. I wouldn't worry about it - just keep it in your pocket or something. It's not as if they're going to search you, anyway.

I've been to several venues in the US where they are very strict about digital cameras. For example I attended 2 gigs in Chicago last year, at the Vic Theatre & Aragon Ballroom. They both had a strict no digital camera policey, which they were enforcing by doing thorough searches. Of course these are smallers venues, so they can afford time to search everybody like that. Hoping the big arenas are not so thorough.

I saw them at TD Banknorth... my friend, and pretty much everyone else in the arena, got in a high powered digital camera. They don't care at all.

I saw the Rolling Stones on Tuesday at the Rose Garden they patted me down, wanded me, and went through scanners.

My camera didn't beep. They do bag check.

I stick my camera down my pants.

Are you going to be in PDX for the U2 show?

Hmm cheers for that! Something to think about, I may even enquire the night before, see what they say then when U2 have rolled into town. Cause U2 have a "cameras ok" policy for this tour.

I could hide my camera down my jeans. But yeah if it beeps and they ask me to take my jeans off...

Yep I'm doing the PDX show. Last of 8 shows I'm catching. We should say hello if your gonna be in town for the show!

I'm about to put the stones pictures up on my jenionfire journal in the next ten minutes if you're interested....

Also, as I want to share it with some one who cares, I scored a free HTDAAB banner from work (Borders) today! Hoorah.

I can see the Rosegarden from my apartment - we should definitly get a drink while you're in town. I promise I'm much less abrasive in person.

Are you staying at the Hawthorne Hostel?

The sound is wonderful at the RG. It's really one of my favorite venues since its not that big, but you've been through there, yeah?

Yeah Powell's is still there (as it's the biggest bookstore in the US ha) and I think you must be talking about Everyday Music right next door, which is also still there. If you want I'll take you to the other EM and the Music Milleniums and Jackpot Records too (all which are amazing... esp. Jackpot).

Yeah I'll definitly try and give you the hook up at Borders. :)

Also - my email is Jenionfire@gmail.com NOT hotmail.
