I'm currently feelin: restless restless
I'm currently hearin: soul meets body - death cab for cutie

Just thinking...you know a band is doing something right when you hear them on the classic rock radio station and the new music radio station in the same day.

I heard New Years Day on 95.5 KLOS (classic rock) and then City of Blinding Lights on STAR 98.7 (new music) today. It made me happy. :)

Better yet - when you hear NEW U2 on the classic rock station. Vertigo on San Diego's 101.5 KGB the other day. ;)

i personally dislike catagorizing U2 as 'classic rock'. they so arent. it's still cool though to have them on both ends of the music radio spectrum. they truly are the best.

yeah i wouldnt necessarily consider them classic rock either, when i think of classic rock i usually think more along the lines of led zeppelin, ACDC, and cream, but thats what i mean, about both ends of the music spectrum. not many bands can appeal to such a wide range of people/tastes/time periods.

word.

classic rock is akin to dead rock if you ask me.

i love the quote in Guitar World by Edge....

Q. Do you listen to much classic rock?
A. No. I've heard all the old stuff.

haha i loved that arcticle!

i have a different opinion on classic rock though...i think they definitely got it right the first time around. not to say that newer stuff is bad, its definitely not. but i think there were so many people who came out of that era who were simply geniuses. Take robert plant, for example..or freddie mercury. Never before have I heard somebody with such an incredible singing voice in a rock band as Freddie Mercury's. Or drummers, like Ginger Baker (Cream) or guitarists like Joe Perry from Aerosmith. These people set the stage for what was to come later...you cant say classic rock is dead, because so much of today's music is influenced by people from the 60's/70's/80's.

And i'm not a die hard classic rock fan- yeah, its part of what I love, but i like SO MUCH music, old and new and i find it hard not to argue for whatever part of it is in question.
