Hello Hello!!

Future spouse and U2? @ 04:39 pm

restfortheweary:
I'm currently feelin: cheerful cheerful
I'm currently hearin: 40

This is just a random thought I found amusing...

I lead a girls Bible study at my college and we've been discussing what we want our future husbands to be. I had my girls make a list of characteristics they are looking for.

They all laughed at me because one of mine is "Must like U2". Haha. But seriously, they are such a part of who I am, my spirituality, etc., (I have always said if someone could put my soul into song its U2), so I believe its essential my future husband at least be able to tolerate them. It would be even better if he loved them like I do.

Anyone else agree with me here? :)

yup!!! :D

In fact my fiancee is the biggest U2 fan I know (besides me...lolol). It's not the only reason I love him but it was because of U2 that we met. :D

The guy I'm seeing HATES U2. And I can't really stand avant guard experimental late sixties punk.

But we still get along smashingly, so no I don't think it's essential, and honestly makes things more interesting.

I met my husband because he runs a record store where I would pick up all of my U2 music. They also are his favorite band. Then we would bump into each other at U2 shows. When we got married, we went to Ireland and stayed at The Clarence and did an entirely U2 honeymoon. When we met the band on the Elevation tour, we told Bono the story of how he was responsible for our marriage. We'll still be going to shows together when we (and the band!) are old and gray! So I think it is a perfectly good thing to look for in a good husband!

You actually got to meet the band because of that? That is so awesome! How did that arrangement happen? It must have been something special...

We met the band at The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. Their jet was parked at the airport next to it on the Elevation tour. We took a chance, called off work and went. (Also, we knew someone who worked at the Rock Hall and told us they would be taking a private tour in the evening.) It worked out wonderfully, and we got to spend about fifteen minutes with each member of the band.

My husband introduced me to Bono, and Bono took my hand and kissed it and told my husband he was a lucky man. We told him the story and he seemed genuinely touched. A few weeks later we saw them play in Pittsburgh, mid-way through the set, Bono walked around the heart, stopped singing and waved at us. His body guard found us in the heart and told us that Bono had talked about us all the way back to the hotel after meeting us. Sigh...I love this band sooo much. Can't wait to see them Saturday!

Sure, why not?

It would be a little hard to argue with that kind of logic...

I've had one boyfriend who liked them somewhat, another who really didn't care for them, and another who was kind of ambivalent. It's not a must for me, but as long as they're not bothered by my fannishness, it's okay.

However, how great would it be to have a mate who just GETS it, you know? I have a good male friend who gets it, and is right there with me, but wouldn't you know it - he's married. :-(

It seems like politics-- people can have a great relationship if they're on opposite sides of the fence, but it does make things a hell of a lot better if they're on the same plane!

U2 definitely played a part in my most recent relationship...I think I helped convert him. XD

Thats weird because I was just thinking about that this morning. I have to marry a guy that likes U2 at least half as much as me. I can't find myself liking someone who doesnt like them.

Recently the secret was let out that one of my friends cries whenever he hears a U2 song. He was really embarrassed but I kept on insisting that lots of girls would find that really attractive. I don't think he believed me.

My future husband (or wife, whatever) doesn't have to love U2 as much as I do. But it's of course a plus (and he definitely can't hate them). Though, he will of course, have to accept and be okay with the fact that I'm in love with Bono.

With you 100%...my future wife has to enjoy them.. God's really taught me a lot about Himself and world through their music. A marriage just wouldn't work if she couldn't share in that with me...

Okay, guys... so when does the "Find Your U2 Soulmate" post go up? With all of these people insisting on having fellow U2 lovers as, well, lovers, you'd think we should start dating each other!

So... A/S/L?

I'm totally kidding. (Sorta.)

I have never dated a girl that could stand U2. Of course, the simple solution is to just put them on anyway and not tell anyone, the funny thing about U2 haters is that they don't really KNOW what U2 sounds like because they've never really heard them. And when they do get a feel for a certain U2 era, just switch eras on them.
