RH win award

Radiohead were awarded the top Live Gig by an International Act for their performance at Belfast's Odyssey at this year's Hot Press Irish Music Awards. Both Ed and Colin were there and accepted the award from Bono. Colin commented what a privilege it was to get the award from Bono after seeing U2 in Milton Keynes back in 1985.

I don't know if there are any RH fans here but I was really pleased reading this. I get a lot of flack from many RH fans when I mention I like U2 equally. They think that U2 represents everything RH is against in the music world when in fact, I see a little of U2 in just about every band I like. I'm not sure how Thom Yorke feels about them but I know for a fact that Ed and Colin are major fans. When they played Red Rocks, Ed had mentioned his fantasy scenario about re-creating U2 there (though he did say coming anywhere near would be impossible). Just hearing their praise for U2 made me stand up for my own musical tastes from certain RH fans :-). I find U2 fans much nicer actually ;-).....

I've repeatedly heard newer bands, reflecting on their first time at Red Rocks, noting how much they wanted their Red Rocks experience to be as successful as U2's. One band, I can't remember the name, even mentioned they didn't realize the fire wasn't included with every gig. :)

That would be Rage Against the Machine. Tom Morello their guitarist had mentioned that the lack of fire was a bit of a disappointment ;-).
