Heh, I was going to post a link to this one myself. They only have room to print the first four paragraphs of it on Ceefax, so it just comes across as a typical media attempt to stir things by taking quotes completely out of context!  I snorted when I read it; we all know the rest of the band are totally supportive of Bono's good work, and also that Bono is still committed to his music and has no intention of being a full-time politician!

When I read articles like this I am reminded of The End of The World book, where Bono insisted on wearing his cowboy boots up on the polutted beach to drop of the barrels WITH THE GUYS IN TOW! If they weren't supportive, they would have told him to can it a long time ago. But seriously take a long look at their music... It's all political in some way. I think the news just needs to get a life and report the news and not take comments out of context. Let us know what else was said at the time. Now, I can see the guys thinking come on Bono time to move on now, but if you were up there for hours at a time singing, standing and playing you would too!

Even Adam, on the Rattle and Hum video, said something about keeping politics out of music being "bullsh*t."

You notice that in the BBC article, it was just an interview. CNN tried to twist it to make it seem that Bono's gonna get kicked out of the band or something. I really can't stand American corporate media.

this bit stood out in my mind the most:

this bit stood out in my mind the most:

<i?But Bono said he now feels the other band members recognize that U2's audience appreciate what he is doing.

"I thought we would wear our audience out, but it hasn't happened," he said. "People are smart out there. They know what you are doing, they know the compromises you are making, they get it."

</i>

thank GOD we 'get it'.
