i'm a podcast dummie. is there anyone that can give me answers (like a book - dummies guide to podcasts) lol...actually what i want to know is:

why do they call it a podcast if sometimes you can listen for free?

is this particular set of podcasts free or do you have to download and pay for them

where can i find the interview...from the beginning if possible

if its free, can i just listen, or do i need to download and save it first?

thanks for any and all help/advice etc.

I think they call them podcasts just to jump on the iPod popularity bandwagon. Simply put, all of the podcasts I've ever listened to, are merely just mp3s of people talking, like a radio show, with bits of music mixed into the background for flavour.
Though this particular one, is less of a traditional podcast, and more of just a regular audio interview.
Also the fact that they're slowly releasing one bit of it at a time, through iTunes, makes it more of a "podcast-y" thing.

These Bono podcasts are completely free, and you can subscribe to them through iTunes, instructions can be found here.
However, joining in now, you wouldn't be able to get any of the previous parts of the podcast.
Fortunately, those can be downloaded as direct mp3s (and this is also useful for anyone that doesn't want to deal with iTunes at all:

Part 1: http://podcast.rbn.com/rstone/rstone/download/bono1.mp3
Part 2: http://podcast.rbn.com/rstone/rstone/download/bono/bono2.mp3
Part 3: http://podcast.rbn.com/rstone/rstone/download/bono/bono3.mp3
Part 4: http://podcast.rbn.com/rstone/rstone/download/bono/bono4.mp3
Part 5: http://podcast.rbn.com/rstone/rstone/download/bono/bono5.mp3
Part 6: http://podcast.rbn.com/rstone/rstone/download/bono/bono6.mp3
Part 7: http://podcast.rbn.com/rstone/rstone/download/bono/bono7.mp3

Right-click the links, and click 'Save Target As...' to save the mp3s directly to your computer.
