Hello Hello!!

January 3rd, 2006

It's easy to be happy... @ 06:12 pm

junkets:
I'm currently feelin: excited excited

Well finally the Rolling Stone issue with Bono's interview made it to Italy! Makes for a great reading... Wow wow wow, I'm never tired of this man.

Plus I got the Chicago DVD on New Years Eve, and the U2 Communication cd+dvd arrived just before Christmas...

Ok I reckon pretty much everyone already owns these items I listed but since I'm late... I just figured I'd let you all know that I am a happy fan and started 2006 the right way!

Cheers :)

From what I understand it's mostly the same stuff as the Chicago DVD, so it's mostly redundant. And the Milan stuff will be out on DVD too at some point, I'm sure.

You think there will be a Milan dvd? I really hope so... During the concert Bono said they were making a movie, so I was a bit disappointed to find out that the dvd was about Chicago...

I'm sure there will be...the songs were similar but the European stage was very, very different from the U.S. shows, so I imagine most Europeans got the Chicago DVD and were like "What the fuck is this?" I don't know if it will be 2006 or later, but I'm sure you'll see it eventually. I think U2 sold more copies than they expected of the Slane DVD with minimal promotion and effort, so why wouldn't they do the same thing with this tour?

Eheh, that's pretty much what I thought! Songs are pretty much the same (though in different order), but the stage was totally different. In Milan, at least. We had background graphics throughout the whole show, which was pretty cool.
I was a bit surprised when they said they were releasing a Chicago dvd. I didn't even know it was something planned... But I sure hope you're right on the Milan dvd!

Well, I knew about the Chicago DVD because I was at those shows. ;)

I've seen some video of the European stuff, I'm extremely jealous...you guys get all the fun.

Yeah eheh... I checked your profile and I AM JEALOUS because you've got a picture with Bono!!! Lucky lucky lucky!

Sure we did have a great show in Italy (and throughout Europe I reckon), but you guys in the US got heaps more shows than us! :P

More shows, but at least from the video I saw, the energy at the European shows more than made up for it.

I think U2 is just terrified to play U.S. stadiums again after PopMart, I think that's the only reason they've done arenas on this tour.

Yeah, well they U2 managed to gather some 80.000 people in Milan, and the atmosphere was amazing, much more energy than the past shows (I saw Elevation and PopMart).

What's with PopMart and stadiums in the US? I can't really remember... I know I liked the show but I just think it was a bit too much. In Italy they played in this huge field and about 150.000 people were there. Unbeliavable.

Yeah...sadly I never got to see the PopMart tour. But with the exception of major U.S. cities like New York and Chicago, most of the PopMart shows didn't sell out, many didn't even come close. Getting 25,000 people to see your band is impressive, but if it is 25,000 people out of 50,000 seats, it's still going to look bad, and apparently that happened at some shows. Even though there were some good nights on the tour, it was percieved as a failure in the U.S.

Didn't know it was a failure in the States...
It was a massive tour indeed. My first U2 concert... Pretty tough for a start! The stage was huuuuuuge, I could barely see the guys as far as I was! Still I liked the past 2 tours better. Playing in stadiums (small ones in Europe) and arenas just fit better with their music right now.
The PopMart was way too much, but I reckon they were just riding the wave of the Zoo Tv tour (heck, missing this tour is something I deeply regret...), and they were feeling pretty cool!
I guess fans were a bit disappointed by Pop (I was for sure), so that's probably why the tour wasn't a real success.

The Cd Rom has a video of Vertigo (filmed in Milan) and several screensavers and wallpapers).
The Audio cd has 8 live songs recorded in Chicago and Milan.
