Better late than never! @ 09:48 pm

sapphires13:
I'm currently feelin: embarrassed embarrassed
I'm currently hearin: Miami - U2

Me a few minutes ago:

"Yea, when I did Love and Peace or Else for Song of the Day- OH SHIT! I was supposed to do Song of the Day today!"

I literally facepalmed myself. I guess I just got so caught up in Grammys excitement (I was really, really excited all day, like scarily so) that it slipped my mind. So, sorry guys!

Today's song of the day is:

"Miami" from Pop

Now, zoostation did this song last time, but as she's from Miami, her opinion doesn't count =P
This song has been described by the band as a postcard, and it really is. A lot of people don't like this song, but it's definitely not one of my least favourite songs on Pop (I actually think I like it better than Staring at the Sun, Please, and The Playboy Mansion).
This song, like Numb, is a rhythm song. The entire thing is basically a description of Miami, from a tourist's point of view. It's almost the sort of thing you'd write in a postcard ;P
I absolutely love this song, and just listening to it right now, I'm completely reminded of that. There's really nothing I don't like about it. Sure, it's a little bit unconventional...
Hell, lemme just be honest about why I love this song. I'm a Bono girl, and this song is hot. The way Bono is singing in his sexy low sort of half-speaking voice. The way his voice sort of falters when he says 'blue' in the second verse, and of course, the final verse.
When I first started really getting into this song, everytime I listened to it, I wanted to go get knocked up in a photo booth in Miami (particularly by Bono). It's a really good thing I live nowhere near Miami, or else I'd really be in a spot of trouble.
The first half of the song, is like this slow build up, leading up to this slow explosion. The first part of the build up is the great riff in the middle of the song, between the third and fourth verses, followed by the calm down, and then the greatly sexy and bass heavy ending of the song.

There no song like Miami ;P

Weather 'round here chopping and changing
Surgery in the air
Print shirts and southern accents
Cigars and big hair
We got the wheels, petrol's cheap
We only went there for a week
Got the sun, got the sand
Got the batteries in the handycam...

Her eyes are swimming pool blue
Dumb bells on a diving board
Baby's always attracted to the things she's afraid of
Big girl with the sweet tooth
Watches the skinny girl in the photo shoot
Freshmen, squeaky clean
She tastes of chlorine
(Miami), my mammy

Love the movies babe
Love to walk through the movie sets
Get to shoot someone in the foot
Get to smoke some cigarettes
No big deal we know the score
Just back from the video store
Got the car and the car chase
What's he got inside the case
I want a close up of that face
Here comes the car chase

I bought two new suits... Miami
Pink and blue... Miami
I took a picture of you... My mammy
Getting hot in a photo booth... Miami
I said you looked like a Madonna
You said maybe...
Said I want to have your baby... baby, baby
We could make something beautiful
Something that wouldn't be a problem
We could make something beautiful
Something that wouldn't be a problem
At least not in Miami

You know some places are like your auntie
But there's no place like
Miami, my mammy
Miami, my mammy
(Keys are in the car)
(Miami, my mammy)
Miami, my mammy

(Shake, shake down)
(Shake down...)

Favourite lyrics:
I took a picture of you... My mammy
Getting hot in a photo booth... Miami
I said you looked like a Madonna
You said maybe...
Said I want to have your baby... baby, baby
We could make something beautiful
Something that wouldn't be a problem
We could make something beautiful
Something that wouldn't be a problem
At least not in Miami

Soooooo sexy.

Fun Fact:
Recently I was listening to this song in the back of my parents car, on my iPod. I'm not sure how loud I had it, but I had headphones on. Even so, when Bono got to his first "MIAMI!" scream, my dad turned around and looked at me like 'WTF are you listening to?!' =D

I can both see how everyone hates this song and I can't.

In my original review I flamed it, but I listened to it SO MUCH while on the bow of that cruise ship that it grew on me. And I saw Miami through a tourist's eyes.

Hello SSP5! :D
I've already begun filming.
