mmmmjournal:
Has Weird Al Yankovic ever parodied a U2 song?

And is there a song that you've always felt he should parody? Is there a U2 song out there that just seems like it ought to be lampooned?

He did Cavity Search of Hold Me, Thrill me, kiss me, kill me. And Green Eggs and Ham of Numb, they're pretty funny!

I think that Vertigo could get a nice parody... Maybe Discotheque lol

LOL, I remember the "Green Eggs and Ham" snippet, I had that on an older computer back before the idiots from Metallica made Napster explode.

Too bad Al didn't take that one into the studio and finish it.

yeah, that was hilarious! I also had this video thing of it, but it's on my old computer, together with most of my U2 stuff lol

Beaten to the punch!

You owe me punch now. Preferably the kind that contains yummy fruit juice, not the kind that involves a fist.

He did a parody of Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (his was called "Cavity Search" with the lyrics "Numb Me, Drill Me, Floss Me, Bill Me" being about visiting the dentist).
He also did a parody of Numb, by reading Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess to the tune of the song.
I don't have either song though.

I should have mentioned the results were for "Weird Al Cavity Search."

Funny that you should mention this. There was a little performing arts night thing at the local library recently, and I happened to be hosting it, and I performed a parody of "With Or Without You." It was about not having appropriate food at a party, and it was called "Without a Nacho."

Here are the lyrics:
----
Our party was quite well-sized
And everyone knew what to buy.
Except for you.

The party was going great
Then you brought salsa on a plate
But there were… no nachos.

Without a nacho.
Without a nacho.

You should have gone back to the store
Now eating this will be a chore
Cuz there are… no nachos.

Without a nacho.
Without a nacho.
I can’t eat this without a nacho.

So you can throw it all away.
Yeah, you can throw it all away.
You can take this, and you can throw it
You can throw it all away.

I’m glad you tried… to make some food
But you’ve got me with… nothing to eat with…
There’s nothin’ I can use!

So you can throw it all away.
Yeah, you can throw it all away.
You can take this, and you can throw it
You can throw it all away.

Without a nacho.
Without a nacho, oh oh.
I can’t eat this without a nacho.

Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh, ohhh!
Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh, ohhh!
Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh, ohhh!
Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh!

Without a nacho.
Without a nacho, oh oh.
I can’t eat this without a nacho.

Without a nacho.

I've thought of other U2 parodies, but I don't develop them past the chorus... like... I thought of turning Beautiful Day into a song about the Golem, and the first line of the chorus would be, "it was a man made of clay!"..... and I thought Discotheque could be turned into "Auto Wreck," especially with all the boom-booms and stuff... but I think those ideas are sort of lame. Especially the idea about working "Mysterious Ways" into a song about a regular customer at a donut shop... "She! Likes! Her! Donuts all glazed! ahahha."
