I'm currently feelin: contemplative contemplative
I'm currently hearin: Acrobat~U2

So my older brother finally got sick and tired of me taking his U2 cd's. I'm of the frame of mind that if someone in my family has a cd I want to listen to, I just borrow it, so I save money that way. I bought myself a copy of Achtung Baby yesterday and I was going to buy another CD tomorrow. This is where I'm having a dilema. I'm not sure if I should get Zooropa or Pop first. Both are incredibly underrated albums (in my opinion anyway), its more of a competition between which song I like more...Lemon or Staring At The Sun.

So my question is...Zooropa or Pop?

I was thinking Pop, because I love Staring At The Sun. But then I think of Lemon and my confusion starts all over again.

Pop would be my vote (even though I only like half the album). Zooropa is just...blech, in my opinion.

If I had to choose between Staring at the Sun and Lemon, I'd take Lemon any day of the week. Zooropa!

My head would asplode.
The 90s albums are like, my holy trinity of U2. I have a three disc changer, and rarely is anything in it other than Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and Pop.
I bought Achtung Baby and Pop on the same day, and Zooropa several months later. Before actually buying Zooropa and listening to it, I had only heard a few tracks from it, and had no idea how much I would like it. I often refer to Zooropa as "purple space crack", because I find the entire album to be incredibly addicting. I find myself listening to it quite a lot.
I love Achtung Baby and Pop as well, and I often have trouble deciding which of the two is my favourite U2 album. Achtung Baby is of course, more universal and friendly to the general music public (as The Joshua Tree was and still is), but Pop has a certain personal depthness lurking in the lyrics.
Zooropa or Pop? Question yourself. Are you looking for an addictive, bizarre, trip through a purple hued outer space? Or are you looking for an often bitter, deep, gem of an album, hiding behind a facade of electronica beats?
They're both amazing, but ultimately, the choice should be yours.

Solely from this answer, I'm pretty sure I'll go with Pop tomorrow and pick up Zooropa in a few weeks. Having said that, I'll probably change my mind when I purchase tomorrow, then I'll get annoyed with my own indecisiveness and pick up The Unforgettable Fire instead.

I almost tacked on "Subliminal Message: BUY POP!" to the bottom of that comment, but then decided that if I did that, I might make my Zooropa album feel bad, and then I'd have to bake it cookies or something to make up for it, but then my dad would eat all of the cookies, and then the Zooropa baby would start crying again, and then Bono, in full MacPhisto makeup would start crying too, and his mascara would run, and he'd refuse to go out on stage, and Larry would have to sing Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car, and that would make all of Larry's fangirls spontaneously combust, and then all four members of U2 plus Paul McGuinness would be arrested for mass manslaughter, and that would just be terrible, and I really shouldn't write anything at all when I've been awake this long, because it just turns into a crazy run-on sentence that makes no sense at all.

I was supposed to vote, but em... that was the funniest thing I've read all day, thanks :)

I'd go with Pop, too. *pets Zooropa*. Solely for If You Wear That Velvet Dress. The song that is *cough*sex*cough*. Luurrrve that bass.

As Staring at the Sun is one of my all time favorite U2 songs, I'd go with Pop. It also has If God Will Send His Angels (another fav), and I think if you put the albums in order, the transition from Wake Up Dead Man to Beautiful Day on ATYCLB is quite nice. But that's my two cents. ;)

pop is awesome, but i would definitely go with zooropa. not only do you get the greatness of lemon, but you get stay(faraway,so close), which is one of the best songs ever. its just perfect.

Zooropa. C'mon, you get U2 *and* Johnny Cash in one amazing little package of awesome! Plus, besides just the amazingness of "Lemon", it has "Stay (Faraway, So Close)", which, in my opinion, is one of the band's best songs ever. The lyrics to that song alone make it worth buying first.

If you're getting the other one in a few weeks anway, then I'd say... coin toss. I know that's the only way I could 'choose' between them. And if I were you, I'd be equally happy with whichever I buy first because they're that awesome.

Am I the only one in this entire community who thinks Lemon is an overrated song? *cowers waiting for the beating* :)

I tend to think the same thing, even though, of all songs "Lemon" did sell me to U2. I know, I know, that sounds ridiculous, considering I heard "with or without you" "Mysterious Ways" "I will follow" leagues before-hand.

I'd say it would depend on your mood what to get. If you're feeling kinda artsy, go with Zooropa, Pop, is a little more in your face as a whole.

It's not that I think it's a horrible song, I just think it's rather overrated in the U2 community. And I also think that the song is way too long.

It's extremely underrated, as far as I can tell. The number of people who dismiss that entire album as unlistenable is astonishing. (I found it unlistenable at first as well, but the rewards of persevering with it are indescribably great, as countless fans would no doubt agree.)

Lemon is my favourite U2 song, anyway, so... there. :p
