Should we abandon Song of the Day? @ 09:20 pm

purplicious:
Poll #714076 Should we abandon Song of the Day?

Should we abandon Song of the Day?

Yes, I'm sick of it.
43(43.4%)
No, let's keep it.
56(56.6%)

EDIT: If your answer would be other, please post and say what answer you would prefer. I assumed you'd either be sick of it or want to keep it, but if not, please do post what you think. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I personally have not found Song of the Day to be interesting in a while, so I'm just wondering how the rest of you feel.

Don't like your choices, not voting.

And yeah, I am taking it a little personally.

Me, not really, but wow, I had no idea.

If they didn't like the SOTDs, then they should've flamed us while we were posting, eh?

Peace, everyone.

Sometimes I skip them. Sometimes I don't. But even when I don't get much out of a particular day's posting, it seems other people do. So I think every day is probably worth it to some here. And to the others, scroll, ya know?

If the majority still enjoy it, that's cool. I just know that the majority of my friends in this community don't, but that could just be my friends. No harm in having a poll and seeing, I figured.

I'm new enough to this community to find SOTD not boring, but I probably only actually read half of the posts about it. If everyone's that sick of it, well, it's not like I can't listen to the songs and form my own opinions, and post about them if I feel the need to. I guess what I'm saying is that this is a U2 LJ comm, and if anybody wants to post about a song I guess they can, and there's probably no real need to have it quite so structured.

While I never read SotD, it's usually a good idea to talk with the community's moderator about your thoughts on things that affect the community as a whole rather than putting up a post that'll get people pissed off for no reason.

I really don't think the SotD is even posted often enough to warrant a poll. (I would not be as angered as some, but I don't find the poll necessary.) I think we're to the point where a few people have some stuff to say or share on their days every week ([Bad username: volare,] and myself, respectively). I don't think it's entirely too hard to ask that people who don't enjoy it skip right past it. What's it take up, 2 seconds? It seems most of your nay-sayers are doing that already. If we all enjoyed every post from every community every day... well, that would be some great thing we've got going.

Again, I just don't personally know anyone who doesn't think SotD has gotten old. Obviously there are such people, but I've been wondering, are these people a vast minority, or are my friends very a very anti-SotD group for some reason? If most people enjoy it, then I have absolutely no problem scrolling by it. If most people are scrolling though, maybe it should be reconsidered. Or maybe it's worthing leaving up for the minority?

No probs with a harmless poll. But I don't think SOTD is going anywhere. I certainly get sick of the "Ohh look how hot Bono is on this pic" kinda posts but well those posts are going anywhere soon. You just have to learn to skip the posts that don't interest you I guess.

There is so much other stuff in this community that can irk me at times. I will agree that SOTD has lost it's luster in the past year. Even I felt it when I did it.

Perhaps people wouldn't find it so bothersome if it was *all* placed inside a cut. Then it's just one line of text instead of scrolling and scrolling and scrolling for all the essay writers. ;)
Just putting the name of the song as the cut text would do it, and if you don't like it, scroll on. If you do like it, click and read.

I don't despise SotD, but it's definitely not my favorite.

In the beginning, I really enjoyed reading them; however, like others have said - it's just died down. It has nothing to do with the people working so hard on keeping it up, it's just more of a personal preference for me. I'm no longer interested in it. I've been scrolling past them for months now because I have to pick and choose what I can spend time reading when I have the chance. Then again, I scroll past posts in every community I'm in. It's just a way of getting through my f-list when I don't have much time.

When it comes down to it, I won't care either way what happens to SotD. If it stays, I'll kindly scroll past it, no harm done. If it goes, I won't be scrolling past it, .000003 seconds saved in my day. -shrug-
