Best Ones... @ 07:11 pm

dawndawn:
Like I said earlier, I'm a new U2 fan. All I have is that mixed cd that my friend made me. As soon as I get some money, I'm going to buy some more U2 cds. Can anyone tell me the best ones to buy?

I'm anew U2 fan but as soon as I'm able, I'm going to buy Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and Pop. I only have ATYCLB right now and I love it :-)!

*gasp* you don't have those???? Those are necessary U2 albums!

However, I must say that the one that got me started on my road to U2 obsession was The Joshua Tree. That is such a great album! Actung Baby is also incredible, but when I first put it on, I was overwhelmed by the *noise*!

All That You Can't Leave Behind is also really, really good!

I'm a broke college student :-(. All I have is ATYCLB and the Greatest Hits with the b-sides. That will change one day ;-).

All That You Can't Leave Behind is the newest right? All of the singles off of it are absolutely amazing!

What does ATYLB stand for? I've never even heard of that or Pop.

All That You Can't Leave Behind. Its their altest album. Pop came out in 1997. The singles from that I believe were Discoteque and Staring at the Sun.

BOY, WAR, and THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE are pivotal as well, especially songs like The Unforgettable Fire, Two Hearts Beat As One, An Cat Dubh-Into The Heart, The Electric Co., Like A Song, and Bad. These songs are so full of the fire that has allowed the band to develop and mature over the 21 years they have been making records.

i absolutely adore Achtung Baby.

Pop was also seriously underrated.

:) and of course there are the classics.... it's all a matter of personal preference. Each album has it's virtues and vices.

That's what everybody has been saying: Pop, Achtung Baby and Joshua Tree.

u2 is so very innovative! their albums are all so different. i definitely definitely recommend achtung baby. of course, you can also get the best of album, which won't give you the full experience of the awesome complete album, but it's a good way to hear some tunes if you don't have a lot of cash to spend.

hmm actually, if you can find the best of/b-sides double disc somewhere, it's definitely worth the money.

it's also getting much harder to find, since they only released a limited number. I've seen it recently, though!

the b-sides collection on the second disc is great. the only thing it's missing is A Celebration (which really isn't a b-side). Most of the songs are from the joshua tree/rattle and hum era because they intended to make JT a double album but canned the idea and made the extra songs (which were mostly album quality) b-sides. (i think that's the way the story goes, correct me if i'm wrong!)

this thread is so fun. i love promoting my favorite band! ;)

october, war, achtung baby, and all that you can't leave behind.. if you have to start small, achtung baby is musical mastery in a big way, i get off on october the most (fots my imagining i'm playin on stage thing better & is more like my imaginary band), war is well.. the definative u2 album from back in the days we were listening to u2 and angry they weren't getting more airplay ;), atyclb is simply brilliant stuff, it brought me back after i'd been drifting off to sleep on the u2 watch :) so you'd have to pick basedon what you want. in the end you want it all though, not to mention fifty gazillion cubic feet of bootlegs out there..
