Hiya all... I'm appealing to those out there who know how to play guitar and bass or trying to learn like me. I'd really like to start out learning some of the easier basslines and riffs of U2's. I know the bassline for With or Without You (cos it's obviously the easiest thing ever) and the opening riff for Miracle Drug. I'd just like suggestions on which U2 songs to start with, ESPECIALLY if they don't require wanky tuning like I know Edge tends to do. Thanks loads! :D

For guitar riffs, I'd suggest Bad or In A Little While.

Thanks! I just tried the beginning of Bad, and it seems easy enough. I'm having a wee bit of trouble hearing In A Little While in my head, but maybe it's justcos I suck at this. :D

Sunday Bloody Sunday is a simple riff where the fingers are in one position and you just lift them up and put them down again in the same places as you go through the riff. It's a good practice one for speed and accuracy.

When I started learning... god, 19 years ago (inspired by U2) I mostly learned chords, which was a good foundation. I don't think a lot of their songs have odd tunings so much as that they tune up or down a half step, and unless you're playing along with the record that's not such a huge deal... especially if it's tuned up a step or half step, then you can just slap on a capo.

Yeah, I'm just beginning so I haven't bothered getting anything like capos yet, but I'd LOVE to learn how to SBS, so I'll get me one. Thanks!

i've been trying to learn teh bass line for WOWYou for years, so if its the easiest thing in the world to learn....aaaaaahhh! :) any chance of sharing?

as for easy u2 songs, i dont know any riffs, but desire, all i want is you are two easy ones with no wonky chord changes. i have the rattle and hum music book - sheet music with guitar chords on it, and individual notes like piano sheet music.

I just recently learned how to play Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own (acoustic couch version). It is pretty easy. :)

Playing "Stay" acoustic like they do on the Boston DVD is pretty fun, as well as all of the aforementioned songs.

Well, if you don't like how it sounds plugged in, just unplug it. Regardless, I'm sure it'll sound wonderful because it's just such a great song.

You're welcome, and have fun!
