Hello Hello!!

A question for you all @ 11:08 am

youreanidiom:
I was listening to the Depeche Mode Mexico City show that I purchased recently and it started me thinking about something.

Does anyone else think that U2 should do a live series like Depeche Mode is doing for Touring the Angel? For those that don't know about this, DM is releasing each show from the tour for purchase either as a download or as a CD. I think it would be amazing if U2 were to do something along these lines. Or, they could do what Phish did, and release their shows as a digital download in both MP3 and FLAC files, along with downloadable artwork.

Anyone else think this sounds like a good idea?

I'd love that. There aren't enough live U2 recordings of pristine quality.

I definitely think this would be a great idea!!! That would spare us some low quality bootlegs :-/ And all of us would get to see more shows from the tour(s).

That is one thing that gets to me sometimes. I have recently started downloading a lot of U2 shows lately, and some of them are just crap. The quality in sound on some of these boots is terrible.

I seem to recall that before this last tour started, Bono mentioned something about them making their shows available from iTunes and those with tickets to the show in question could get that download for free. I had really been hoping they'd do that - seems like the quality of the sound, etc. would likely be better than the bootlegs...it's probably just an idea that got lost in the shuffle with all they had going on getting ready for the tour.

I heard somewhere that the band would definitely not do it--Edge had heard of Pearl Jam doing that, and was mindboggled at the amount of mixing and sheer studio time that it would require from him. I'm not sure why he himself would need to do it, but it would be nice.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they couldn't just hire someone on who would do the mixing for them. Then slap them up on their website for, oh, $10 for FLACs. Sounds like a good idea to me. :)

The DM boots are AWESOME! The sound quality is amazing, and in such a short amount of time! I Def. think U2 should do it as well...and yeah, I'm confused, too....why would Edge need to do anything in the studio with it??? *shrugs*

DCD did that during their recent tour as well...you could purchase the CD ahead of time (obviously) at the merch table, and receive proof of payment. A few weeks later, the double disc set would arrive at your doorstep.

My friend that I went to the show with got the CD...the packaging was GORGEOUS, and personalized to the show. Well worth the $30...too bad I was broke at the time.

Heck yes, they should do it. Pearl Jam has been doing for there last couple of tours, and on this tour, you can buy mp3's or flacs, with a show that would be 2 cd's long, is only $14.99 for the flacs.. not bad at all :)

Best price tag I ever saw for FLACs was from Phish's live website. They charge $12.95 for them.
