I love that song, but I don't love that video. Too many bad memories.

They could have done much better, both in the video and the song.
(just my two cents, don't throw rocks :P)

This song actually took a while to grow on me. At first it didn't do anything for me, but now I've grown to really like it. As for this video, I didn't hate it. But I'm not over the moon about it either. There needed to be more U2 (or maybe less Green Day). Maybe more black and white footage from the studio performance and less from the football game.

But overall, not bad. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for posting. I've heard the orignal song, and didn't care for it much. I really think the U2/GD collaboration on this has done something great with it. Maybe it wouldn't have been so much to me if it hadn't been for the New Orleand connection, but it makes me cry a little each time I hear it.

Wow! Thanks so much for finding this!! I love the song and found this video very moving! Please excuse my ignorance coz it wasn't really that widely reported here in Finland, but did that really happen? I mean, all those military helicopters, stealth fighter planes etc. bringing aid and rescuing the people of New Orleans?!?

Notice the very end of the video "As not seen on TV". The video is showing what should've happened, or at least could've, had the American government dealt with the crisis in a different (better?) manner.

Yeah I did see the sign at the end, but wasn't sure what it meant. But I've been reading in other U2 forums just what you explained. And I now understand this video to be a critique of the mis-management of the crises!

If that's not a big "FUCK YOU" to the Bush Admin and everyone else who failed this nation under a time of crisis, I don't know what is.

It's a great video! Thanks for sharing it.

I don't think it's as much as an attack as it is a critique. There were so many ways to handle the Katrina situation and our government (local, state and federal) all failed. It was a huge failure and the blame is on everyone alike.
The main point is that it's just sad that we are "better" equipped to deal with other countries problems abroad than we do with dealing with crises at home.

Either way, it's a huge step for U2 to be critizing the government they've gotten so comfy with the past few years. Although I'm sure Green Day gave them the biggest push. I'm excited.
