U2 Tree

Nothing has ever been better, before or since......

Sorry for a cross-post....

Has there EVER been a better album than "The Joshua Tree?"

I'm watching VH-1's "I Love the 80's," and they're doing a segment on that album..... but they failed to capture the utter perfection of that album.

Every song is completely awesome, and some of my favorites are the ones you never hear on the radio:

Where the Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
With Or Without You
Bullet the Blue Sky
Running to Stand Still
Red Hill Mining Town
In God's Country
Trip Through Your Wires
One Tree Hill
Mothers of the Disappeared

I'm trying to think if any artist EVER has had a better album with so many classics all at once.... greatest hits albums and box sets don't count.... I'm talking about one single album where EVERY song sounded better than anything you'd ever heard before....

The only others that come anywhere close, as far as I can figure, are "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "Dark Side of the Moon," "Synchronicity," and "Who's Next," but not even those are as inspirational as "The Joshua Tree." Those albums can't actually TAKE you out to the desert like Joshua Tree does........

You haven't lived - nothing you have ever done matters - until you've popped that album into your CD player as you get out of Barstow at 90 mph. Fly to California if you don't live here already, and drive from San Bernardino to Arizona or Nevada with that album on. It's like being reborn.

If you agree, if this album has touched your life, please share your story. If you disagree, I ask you only this: what could possibly be better? What is the ULTIMATE classic rock album if not "The Joshua Tree?"

I forgot to put this in the other day when I was writing about dancing in the hotel at midnight - earlier that day, we were eating lunch at the Hardrock Cafe, and there was another girl on the trip who liked U2. She only had the Joshua Tree album, and we were talking about it, and one of the other girls asked me what my favorite U2 album was. She didn't own one at all, and she didn't know which one to get. I told her my favorites and she decided to buy the unforgettable fire. I dunno if that's the best one for the first U2 cd to own, but it's a great album and yay I've spread the gospel, so to speak :)
