Another Perspective....

After reading everything that's been going on, I suddenly felt the need to chime in and give my two cents worth. Please don't flame me.....I'm just being...I dunno, actually.

I've been a U2 fan for seven years. It all started when I saw the "Please" video. I knew about them, sure. I just never paid all that much attention to them until then. I know, shock...gasp! Now, I have several of the CDs, the iPod, I'm attempting to download The Complete U2 (--don't ask!), and...I think that's it.

Now, this is the second tour when I've been a fan and I would love to go. I wasn't able to even think about it during the Elevation tour due to finances the first time and really bad timing the second time (They came through Denver twice) Besides, I thought that there would be other tours.

Now, I'm hearing all the news and heartache about the presale woes. And, frankly, I feel that everyone got ripped off. $40 for the U2.com membership and then codes that don't work. It makes you wonder what will happen next.

I've never been to a concert, much less a U2 concert. No, I'm not kidding. I've had a rather sheltered life and an ex that never wanted to spend money unless it directly benefited him.

So, on Saturday morning, I plan on getting up and heading out to a Ticketmaster outlet and hope that I get tickets. WIth all that's been going on, I will be happy to get nosebleed seats.

To be honest, I just wanna go....just for the sake of going. I don't care where I'm sitting. I really don't. Like I said, I just wanna go.

My question is this: Are there more people like me that just want to go and see the band? There has to be. I mean, kudos to the people that got the GA tickets. I envy you. But, I just want to be able to go. And, it's all luck of the draw. It kinda sucks.

Anyway, I hope you all understand what I'm saying. I'm not trying to offend anyone. I just wanted to say that there is someone who sees it way differently.

Breaking News! New Shows, North America.
U2 are hoping to return to North America for more shows this Autumn - and rollover dates for the first North American leg are also on the cards.

While the Autumn leg is not confirmed yet, the already announced opening North American leg is likely to include rollover dates - that is additional shows in currently advertised venues. We will be mailing U2.Com subscribers who have not yet been able to buy tickets in the North American presale with early information on how to buy tickets at these additional first leg shows.

There has been a phenomenal demand for the 'Vertigo 2005 Tour' presale on both sides of the Atlantic.

In North America - where venues are indoor and have a smaller capacity - most fans have succeeded in getting their tickets but some venues , notably the New York Madison Square Garden show, have reached their presale capacity.

Fans may choose a different US venue but Paul McGuuinness, U2's manager, has told U2.Com, 'We are sorry that presale tickets for the Madison Square Garden show have sold out but it is the band's intention to play more shows at Madison Square Garden in the Autumn.'

Thanks for your patience - and our apologies again.

Sorry if anyone already mentioned this and I missed it / forgot...

You know the "MISS YOU SUGAR" message on the underside of the HTDAAB disc?  Well, I was listening to Pop the other day and I thought I'd inspect the CD to see if it had any such messages printed on it. I wasn't expecting to find one, but I did - it says "4UALKXXXX". I'm thinking it probably means "For you Anne-Louise Kelly" with four kisses. Pretty cool, huh?

(no subject)

in the midst of the ticket madness, the disappointment, the confusion, i thought it might be nice to tap back into what this is all about. a reminder of what we've experienced and what we will experience. if you're interested, here are my memories of the first night at slane castle.

Hello Hello

I just joined the community & I have a question.

Does "Vertigo" sample another song in it ??
Or not same, but have a part in it similar to another song ??

I know it's confusing & I apologize. Can anyone help me ??

Thanx ^_^

in the past few months i have been having horrible pain that coincides with noise. right now i am in the middle of dozens of hearing tests and audiology appointments to figure this problem out. so far every one thinks it is recruitment. this comes at a horrible time because my first u2 concert is on april 9th. but it will take a whole lot more than hearing problems to keep me from seeing the best band ever.

in both anticipation for the cncert and slight depression from this diagnosis, ive been going over my u2 lyrics, and ive noticed two things.
#1) bono sings alot about seeing, and being blind, and having his eyes opened. too bad my eyesight isnt going bad, it might help me out.
#2)theres a part in "wake up dead man" that i had never noticed before.

Listen to your words they'll tell you what to do
Listen over the rhythm that's confusing you
Listen to the reed in the saxophone
Listen over the hum of the radio
Listen over sounds of blades in rotation
Listen through the traffic and circulation
Listen as hope and peace try to rhyme
Listen over marching bands playing out of time

i guess ive never noticed this because im just floored by the other lyics in the song, bt now they just jump at me and yell "OH MY GOSH!!! LOOK!!!!" especially the reed of the saxaphone and the marching band plays out of time becasue im in the band, and i build props for the marching band, both things i cant do anymore with my hearing problem.

i hope my concert experience will still be great!

U2 Album Montage

Such a beautiful song....

And so she woke up
Woke up from where she was
Lying still
Said I gotta do something
About where we're going

Step on a steam train
Step out of the driving rain, maybe
Run from the darkness in the night
Singing ha, ah la la la de day
Ah la la la de day
Ah la la de day

Sweet the sin
Bitter the taste in my mouth
I see seven towers
But I only see one way out

You got to cry without weeping
Talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice

You know I took the poison
From the poison stream
Then I floated out of here
Singing...ha la la la de day
Ha la la la de day
Ha la la de day

She runs through the streets
With eyes painted red
Under the black belly of cloud in the rain
In through a doorway she brings me
White gold and pearls stolen from the sea
She is raging
She is raging
And the storm blows up in her eyes

She will...
Suffer the needle chill
She's running to stand...

Glastonbury and a giggle

Just wondering if anyone had heard any rumours about U2 at Glastonbury? It's physically possible as they have not committed to any shows on 25/26 June - but surely they'll add another day to Dublin (24 June)? This BBC article mentions the rumour at the end: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4213651.stm

Also, while browsing to see how many people are selling their pre-sale tickets on eBay, I saw this and it made me giggle: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16067&item=6508113490&rd=1

A Question:

Did anyone happen to travel from the U.S to go see the Slane Castle show via a travel agency (re: a package deal, ticket, plane, hotel, etc)? If you wouldn't mind sharing about how much did you spend? and does anyone know of any travel agencies doing that this time around?

U2 UK Ticket update

Well it seems pretty concrete, if you've used up your 4 tickets in the presales, you cannot buy tickets in the general sale tomorrow.
If you've not used up your 4 ticket limit, you can buy tickets with another ticket agent. Just make sure you do not excede 4 tickets.

This includes mainland Europe/Ireland as well.

I got told this from ticketmaster on the phone, so have others.

If you ignore this, you WILL lose ALL your orders. If you need more evidence, phone them yourselves.

Thankfully I only bought 1 ticket in the presale.

They sure know how to fuck us about.

EDIT: What a farce. Ticketmaster Manchester are saying presales count, ticketmaster London are saying presales don't count. So basically nobody knows for sure now. So I guess its upto how everybody feels.. is it worth the risk? Unless TM can release a statement... I know for sure I aint buying my 3 other tix with TM!
