Well....I staked out ticketmaster.com like a lot of others this morning for tickets to see the boys in NYC at Madison Sq. Garden in October. They had 3 dates listed, and added 2 during the rush.
Of course, there was no way I could get GA tickets, even though I tried my hardest. So I bought 1 ticket for $180 a couple levels up. This will be my first U2 show since becoming a fan a few years ago as I was graduating high school. eBay makes me too upset to even look at....
If anyone has an extra ticket for any NYC show, let me know....
"OH I UNDERSTAND: we're *all* U2's biggest fans and we all deserve to touch the hem of Edge's (bedazzled? please?) jeans and see Adam like totally look right at us and have Larry acknowledge our awesome homemade sign by pointing at it with his right drumstick and then be pulled onstage by Bono for a platonic yet somehow hot slow dance during which we promise not to grope the legendary front man--in fact, we will even slump over a bit to disguise the fact that we are probably so much taller than he is! Because we love him so much omigod!!!"
I just had to share that because it made me laugh. A lot. Kelly's hilarious and perfectly pinpoints the U2 fan experience every time. I thought maybe a few of you could use a laugh too. :-)
hi guys i just joined this community im a HUGE U2 fan!!!! i even got the most wonderful u2 ipod for christmas anyway. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I subscribed to propaganda 3 years ago only ever got one magazine and then when they switched over to the internet fanclub i never got the information in the mail about the discount. I emailed them about this and never got a real responce back i got some automated response that didn't help at all. did anyone else have this problem and if so what did you do?? ~kimmy

I signed into aol.com and they had a listing for famous Irish people. Of course, Bono was the first listed. They had a really beautiful picture of him. I thought I'd share :0)
Hey guys, I'm back after a week. Had some issues and got banned from posting in the community for a "misunderstanding", I say. But anyway... HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY ADAM!
...this past sunday, the 3rd leg tickets went onsale here in California. I was the first one in line @ 5AM!...tix went onsale at 10am. I didn't get GA tickets but did get decent tickets for the 2nd show in November in Los Angeles. SO this year I'll be attending TWO U2 shows... 1 show this 1st leg and 1 show for the 3rd leg. I'm so excited.
If you guys didn't know Bono accepted the TED award along with 100,000. He gave a 40 minute speech and had 3 wishes as you guys may know...all going to his ONE Campaign. Well my point to is this, go to www.theonecampaign.org Read, Learn, Donate and wear the ONE wristbands... I donated. Thanks.
I haven't been paying attention this time around because it seems like quite a pain in the arse...
Is the pre-sale only for people who paid the $40 at U2.com? From what I can tell, you pay $40 for the opportunity to be pissed off and then overpay or miss out altogether.
Is the pre-sale code something one can give out?
Come on, last time around I hooked people here up with the code!
Hey Guys I live in md and all this past weekend they have been playing blocks of U2 at the top of the hour on the radio. anyways yesterday i heard a different version of "New Years Day". It might have been a remix i really don't know but i liked it a lot. Does anyone have any alternate versions of this song that they would be willing to upload? thanks tons
Oh, God. I can't believe I am sinking to this. Aims and everybody else, my sincere apologies in advance.
So I got shut out on Saturday for Atlanta tickets. Nothing. Nada. I cried for 2 hours. Then the second Atlanta date was announced, giving me hope. I've been assembling an army of people to help me score my desperately needed GA tickets for that night (feel free to contact me if you'd like to join my battle and be ready to fight on my behalf next Sat. morning!), but I fear it won't be enough.
I've had two things that happened to me relating to U2 in the past two days. Both deal with "The Unforgettable Fire" as an album.
From today:
I wanted to print the lyrics to "Bad" by U2 because I just think it's an incredibly transcendent song that has been sort of speaking to me for the past couple of days. I can't explain it adequately... but it just does! I might just buy the U2 Greatest '80's Hits album.
"Bad" by U2
If you twist and turn away If you tear yourself in two again If I could, yes I would If I could, I would Let it go Surrender Dislocate
If I could throw this Lifeless lifeline to the wind Leave this heart of clay See you walk, walk away Into the night And through the rain Into the half-light And through the flame
If I could through myself Set your spirit free I'd lead your heart away See you break, break away Into the light And to the day
Hoo-hoo
To let it go And so to fade away To let it go And so fade away
I'm wide awake I'm wide awake Wide awake I'm not sleeping Oh, no, no, no
If you should ask then maybe they'd Tell you what I would say True colors fall in blue and black Bruised silken sky and burning flag Colors crash, collide in blood shot eyes
If I could, you know I would If I could, I would Let it go...
This desperation Dislocation Separation Condemnation Revelation In temptation Isolation Desolation Let it go
And so fade away To let it go And so fade away To let it go And so to fade away
I'm wide awake I'm wide awake Wide awake I'm not sleeping Oh, no, no, no
I just love the rhyming words at the 4:40 mark of the song. It's beautiful work by Bono and the rest of the band.
And from yesterday:
There's a station in LA, 95.5 KLOS, that played The Unforgettable Fire by U2, the entire album, on the radio. That was cool. I drove home to that stuff. It's really some beautiful music on that particular album.
I'm thinking about buying the Slane Castle DVD, I just bought the Boston DVD recently and I loved it, so I now I really want to see how it compares. Before I buy it, I just want to make sure its worth the money though, so if anyone has any comments on how good it is, what its like overall, or how it compares to the Boston DVD, i'd love to hear. Thanks.
OK, a friend has all the U2 albums and has brought me: Boy, War, The Unforgettable Fire, All That You Can't Leave Behind, and Pictures in Grey. I asked for War and All That You Can't Leave Behind and he just brought me the others.
What other albums would you suggest I ask him for?
Although I'm an avid U2 fan, I haven't really branched out beyond their albums and occasionally singles/EPs, mostly because I was just... unaware of them, I guess. Being born late has its downsides. But, I can still do research! So...
I would love it if everyone would recommend their favourite b-side or rare song, or even if they'd care to enlighten me on the bootlegs floating around out there :) The only one I really know about is Salome, and that's just barely.
