Salt Lake City Tickets....

Hello all. :)

Ahh, ehm, I'm having a bit of a problem, you see. I finally got tickets to the U2 show in SLC, the only problem is I'm up in nosebleed heaven and halfway across the arena from the stage. :( I'm very sad about this because this will be my first U2 show ever--and I guess, let's just say I thought my view of U2 would be a little bit more flattering. :(

Anyway, getting down to the point, I was wondering if anyone had any possible better Salt Lake City concert tickets they're willing to sell to me?

*fat lip*

I'm really quite desperate. ^.^;;

Two things

First off, I have reached a new sad level of U2 obsession. I bought air freshener called "Summer Rain", just because I was tickled by the name.

Second, I was wondering if anyone has files of Ben Stiller on his TV show impersonating Bono. I was telling a friend of mine about how brilliant they are, but I don't have a clue where to find them to show him. I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance! :D

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

I'm just sitting here, listening to "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and I thought I'd test the temperature of each fan in the community by starting something interesting:

Every day, starting with tonight, I'm gonna pick a random song from the U2 canon and ask for anyone's opinion, good or bad, in the community on that particular song. Tonight's choice is obviously:

"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" from The Joshua Tree (1987)

I know it's gonna be a little slanted towards the positive side of things, but even U2 has its warts and songs that fans aren't really crazy about. It's the nature of anything subjective, whether it be artists or music or movies. Give it a shot!

My thought: Well, I love "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" personally. But the amazing thing is that I haven't really grown to love it until a couple of months ago. I've heard it many times on the radio and at first, I found the song a little too overlong and mellow to be the sort of anthemic rock that U2 is most well-known for. Listening to it now, I marvel at how natural-sounding Bono's voice is when it melds with the guitar base accompianment and steady drum beat. The lyrics are about as passionate as you're gonna find on any U2 song. In that, the combination is quite formidable and produces a really sturdy song that flows naturally and is never insistent on anything. It bleeds passion and pride and is quite evocative. The fact that it is one of the key songs on what many consider to be the best album they have ever made also adds to the power of the song, I think.

Any and all thoughts are, once again, very much welcome!

(no subject)

I am writing in my journal about the U2 shows I have seen, and I seem to of forgotten, and was wondering if any of you knew.. what were the "characters" named, the giant, cartoony heads that potrayed the band members (as featured during the ZooTV era & in the Sweetest Thing video)..?!
