I've seen it posted here before, but can't seem to recall the address.

Anyways, I'm looking for a place to download U2 videos. Live or music videos.

Thanks in advance.

I just had a "unique" situation I endured, and I thought I'd share it with you all. I had made an avatar for the message boards, and tried to have it hosted on a particular site. It was a picture of Bono ala Mr. MacFisto, with a line he said from the ZooTV: Live From Sidney concert written across the picture.. "Goodbye all you Neo Nazis, I hope they give you Aushwitz". WELL. A few hours later, I got an email from the hosting site moderator. It said, and I quote, "Your picture has been removed and you have been banned from the site for posting offensive material. Please do not attempt to post on our site again." :o!!! I wrote to this site and explained what it meant & where I had gotten that line from, but they insisted that I had made "a posting of a racist nature", and that "complaints were recieved about the picture in question". ?!?! Man, I guess I can sort of see how they might see it as offensive (??), especially since they had no knowledge whatsoever of the meaning of it. But, exactly WHO is that racist against- Nazis?! Please. Probably was just the fact of the nature of the text, they just felt it was "too controversial". But to ban me from the site?! Geez.

Hall of Fame Induction

Just wanted to let everyone know, if you still want to catch the induction, it looks like VH1 is going to stop showing it soon. Tonight at 1am ET is the last showing according to VH1.com's Rock on TV.

U2 on Rock on TV

By the way, this is an excellent site if you want to find television appearances of virtually any band.

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, U2 appears about an hour and fifteen minutes through the show, first with a montage of sorts showing some of their finest moments (LiveAid, Elevation in Boston, etc), then Bruce Springsteen's great speech, and then a smattering of the band speaking and some *excellent* live performances.

hi, i'm a moron

Ok. before I even begin explaining myself, let me just say that in my own defense, i do in fact know that i'm an idiot.

So you know that sale that happened on Monday morning...well, I was there precisely at 10 am, ready to buy a ticket for MSG. I wanted general admission, of course, as everyone does...but i thought that the "cheapest tickets were the best seats" (ga)... so i put for the price range on ticketmaster to be the 54 dollar one, the cheap one. Not, of course, thinking much about it and was excited when one ticket came up for that...so i bought it.

Now, as i'm sure you've figured out, it was not GA, but rather a really crappy seat somewhere in the far back. Having already bought the ticket, is there anyway I can let a friend use it or something...because it printed out a ticket, i don't think they are sending me a ticket...and the printed out ticket has my name and everything on it. So would they let someone else in using a ticket that doesn't have their own name on it?

I figure, I've already seen U2 at the brooklyn bridge show and was closer than I would ever hope to be with GA anyway, and I have ok seats for continental...so i don't think i wanna go to the MSG one. I just don't want the ticket to go to waste, you know?

Song of the Day

Today's selection is

"Angel of Harlem" from Rattle and Hum (1988)

Thoughts: Well, now that I've heard the song, I'm so glad I did this with the community. I have to say that it has to be one of the happiest-sounding U2 songs I've heard in a long time. It just doesn't feel like typical U2. One of the commentators was right: there is a rockabilly feel to the song. Like, it's the perfect song to play at a jukebox in the middle of a bar with a dance floor so you could just get your boogie on. It sounds like the perfect road trip song, too. The vocals have Bono seeming to just stride along confidently with the accompianment. There's a sort of joyous overall feeling to the song that makes it immediately one of my favorites.

For those of you catching up, this is the third part of an ongoing series of daily voting on songs from the extensive U2 canon. I do not know when I will stop this...

First was "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", then "New Year's Day" yesterday. I will put the previous day's song on the next entry for the Song of The Day from now on.

Not necessarily directly related to U2, but slightly...

I'm taking a seminar at school called "The Role of Africa in the Contemporary World." It's been an absolutely incredible class, taught by the American Ambassador to Ethiopia. We watched a video today - the BBC's coverage of the 20 year anniversary of the 1984-85 Ethiopian famine. It was an intense film, they showed images and footage from the camps and clinics...it was difficult. Bob Geldof was featured quite a bit, and they started talked about Band Aid and Live Aid. I'd seen clips of Live Aid on I Love the 80s, but I'd never really learned much about it. I got the chills when I saw how many people were at the Live Aid concert. Geldof organized/helped organize a wonderful thing, and it brought in so much money to help the people in Ethiopia. They also showed some clips of recording the Band Aid cd, and of course there was Bono. The Ambassador actually showed Bono around the country when he visited a few years ago...I need to ask him what he thought of Bono.
I think one of the hardest things about the film was seeing the video they showed at the concert, and then seeing that, 20 years later, Ethiopia is heading towards the same fate all over again. But lord...Geldof did something incredible with that concert.
