The Dalton Brothers were an opening act in LA during U2’s 1987 JT world tour and consist of Luke, Duke, Alton, and their sister Betty... Those not familiar with this group may find a resemblance between them and Edge, Larry, Bono, and Adam… in that order.
Thoughts: This remains one of U2's most soulful and heartfelt of songs that I have ever heard from them. In high school English class, we had to choose between analyzing the music video of this song or Peter Gabriel's "Digging In The Dirt". I chose the latter, simply because all of the imagery in "One"'s video was just too confusing. I think it had something to do with the duality of one's soul but I'm not really sure nor was I sure that I could make a coherent paper out of it. Anyway, I just adore the guitar work on this song. Bono's vocal work is one of the best of his entire career (I think that's saying something given yesterday's selection). I particularly liked this part of the lyrics:
Have you come here for forgiveness? Have you come to raise the dead? Have you come here to play Jesus?
The imagery in there is very raw and works, I think, towards conveying the pain and desperation that Bono is feeling.
He might get mad at me for posting this, but I have a friend who went down for the SD shows and totally ran out of money (ha ha) and can't go to the show tonight. Does anyone have (or know anyone who has) one extra GA ticket for tonight's show that they wouldn't mind giving up? He's a really cool guy, and will be very grateful I'm sure.
I know it's a long shot, but I figured, meh. There are people out there who are that nice.
Has anyone who's already been to a show been scoping out the Merch tables?! I need details of if I should buy myself something.
Also, does anyone have scanned images of the induction ceremony pictures from Rolling Stone? There are 2 pictures in particular that I'm looking for: the one of Bono with the champagne bottle, and the other one of him and Springsteen hangin on each other after obviously one too many drinks!
If anyone has these, I would forever be in debt to you if you shared them with me! I'm sure others may want them too.
