April 9th, 2005

Hey guys! This is from my journal.

I'm thinking I might seriously have to sell my u2 ticket. I just woke up from some little nappy and I feel WAY worse. I think it might be a good idea to stay home and rest and get some work done. I have enough to do this sick weekend besides trying to walk all the way to hp pavilion and sit down for 2 hours at a rock concert feeling like this. So yeah the seat is Section 204 row 11 seat 19 and it came out to $65. Anyone know anyone who might be interested? If so email me. em8snoyarc @ hotmail.com - without the spaces of course. Only thing is they'd need to come pick it up but I'm close enough to the hp pavilion that it shouldn't be a big deal. Let peoples know. Thanks.

This is of course for the San Jose concert TONIGHT Saturday April 9. I just feel way too sick to be going. Anyone interested?

One Wristbands

Okay, guys.  I've been wanting to order a few of the adult-size wristbands to support the One campaign, but the smallest package sold contains 10 of them.  Singles can be had on eBay I think, but I don't want to send my money to some guy who managed to swipe a box of them off the back of a truck somewhere.  I want to be absolutely 100% sure that my money is going directly to the campaign.

Tonight I placed the order for the 10-pack, but I only need 3 of them. The pack of 10 costs $10.00, but it's $5 for shipping.  That breaks down to $1.50 per wristband.

Therefore the first 7 people to reply and send $1.50 USD via PayPal to elevationist@hargray.com will get my extras!  :D  I'll cover the cost of shipping them to you once I receive them, so unfortunely I must limit this to U.S. and Canadian buyers only, please.  I'm only accepting PayPal, so that I can transfer the funds right back into the bank account that I'm using to purchase the set. Additionally, quite a many of you know me well enough to know that I'm DEFINITELY not out to scam anybody here.  I just wanna help get these wristbands out to people. :)

So please comment here and initiate transfer if you'd like "one."  (God, I'm so effin' punny!)  :P

**EDIT #1** If you are in the U.K. and have an extra "MakePovertyHistory" wristband, and you would like to arrange an even trade for one of these, reply here to let me know and leave an email address that I so that I can contact you privately. :)

**EDIT #2** Sold OUT! Thanks for the interest, everybody!

Rattle and Hum DVD

So how good is the Rattle and Hum DVD?
I have a 25$ gift card for Barnes and Noble and was thinking of purchasing the DVD
and The Screwtape Letters by C.S Lewis.
I have the Go Home DVD and LOVE it.
Just wondering if people that have it like it?

Bush Sr. Will Rock Me

Does anyone have an MP3 of the Bush Sr. clip where he's synchronized all up so it seems like he's singing "We Will Rock You?"

I have it as part of the longer show intro on some Zoo TV boots, but I'm wondering if it exists anywhere by itself.

Song of The Day

Today's selection is

"Bad" from Live Aid (1985)

Thoughts: Being that I loved the studio album version of "Bad" from The Unforgettable Fire, it's only natural that I love its live counterpart that was made famous during the Live Aid concert. I gotta tell you that I prefer the polished studio version, but the drum beats in the live version make it a really difficult choice as to which is better. I am well aware of the fact that live versions take off in different tangents from the studio version and "Bad" in this case doesn't really lose anything by going off for six to eight minutes after the studio version ends. I just love the light, strumming guitar that just keeps going and going for minutes on end, as if the band just refuses to stop the magic and let it soak and saturate the air. How the guitar intermingles with the sparkly bells or synthesizers, whatever that is. It's wonderful stuff.

mp3 request(s)

I know that mp3 requests are preferred to be posted on u2mp3s, but I've seen cemeteries with more activity than that community. What I'm looking for is a lot of the older b-sides, and a few rare tracks/stuff I just can't seem to get my hands on. It's all under the cut as not to disrupt the regular discussions on this board too much. If any one person, or group can help me out with this, it would be very much appreciated.

Edit: Thanks to the lovely members that were able to provide the needed tracks. You rock. :)

Poster on ebay

Hi, I hope it's ok to post this here, if not, just delete it.

I have an old U2 poster on ebay, from the ATYCLB era... I will ship worldwide.

I'm advertising here because some of you might see the listing, and if you're posting here, then you will sort of "know" me. ;) I am trustworthy and have an excellent feedback profile. :)

Heart of Darkness set

(Sorry if this shows up twice. Crossposted to U2usendit community and my own journal.)

This may just be my favorite 20 (or so) minutes of music of all time.

From U2's Zoo TV / Zooropa tour in 1992-1993, here's the "Heart of Darkness" set. The music and the sets, and Bono's military-esque costume, it goes from sad angst ("Bad") to anger and rage ("Bullet the Blue Sky") to despair ("Running to Stand Still") and finally to hope and joy, the light at the end of the tunnel (the ending "hallelujahs" of RTSS and the glorious transition into "Where the Streets Have No Name.")

Listen to Bono's slip into falsetto during "Bad," when he first sings "I'm wide awake." It gives me goosebumps every time - it's flawless and beautiful. The Michael Jackson line at the beginning is a little dated now ... or maybe not. ;-)

These are my favorite versions of all of these songs, particularly "Streets," which fills me so full of joy when I listen to it, and makes me feel like I can do anything.

I wish I could load these up in one chunk without the break in between, but listen to them in order and try to imagine them flowing seamlessly together.

And if you then feel so moved, find a copy of the Zoo TV Live From Sydney VHS and watch it with the amazing visuals.

The Batman MP3

Does anyone remember my post concerning Edge's work in 'The Batman?'
I have a crude recording of it. here.
Just scroll down the page to the list of link. Sorry about making you scroll through that mess, but Angelfire sites don't allow remote-linking.
I know, the site's hideous- it was my first attempt :-~

I also have something even more exciting right below it, an unlicensed
U2 rendition of The Springhill Mine Disaster.
The performance comes from their appearance on 'The Late Late Show' in 1987.
If you wish to see the video of the guys playing Springhill, you might find it here.
