I can't get on to Interference this morning. Are the servers just busy, or do you guys know something I don't?
Usually when the servers are too busy, I get a page that looks like Interference's background, but tells me the servers are busy, try again later.
Today's selection is
"Wild Honey" from All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000)
Thoughts: It's so lightweight a song that I swear, it belongs only in the summertime. It seems like a song that you'd play to a picture of two people jumping and running happily in a meadow somewhere with lots of birds chirping and flowers everywhere. Even the lyrics invoke this kind of imagery. This kind of light and bouncy sound and sunny lyricism is a pretty radical departure from the heavier kinds of places that U2 has been. Being that ATYCLB was a comeback album of sorts, it makes a lot of sense that they wouldn't return to the sort of dark, cry-worthy place that How to Dismantle... treads. Other than that, the sound and instrumentation is consistent and adds to the joyous feeling that the song does evoke. I'm either way with this song. There are times when I like it, other times I don't really care for it. I guess those times come because there isn't a whole lot that's memorable about the song. It feels run-of-the-mill.
Hey peeps! I'm generally a lurker, had a journal that was actually a member here but deleted that one, and here I am! >_>
Okay, now down to bweeseeness. (business)
I have to move in a couple of months, and I'm trying to sell off all my precious junk. Unfortunately, that means that I've decided to give up one of the things that mean a whole bunch to me - my May 10 Chicago United Center ticket. I thought about this long (several weeks) and hard (you have no idea), and I feel that in order to make my upcoming move as financially painless as humanly possible, I have to just do what I need to do. :(
Now, here's the fine print, so to speak.
The ticket is for Section 328 Row 12. Keep in mind that this is behind the stage. Mayhaps you will have a glance at Larry's arse one in awhile. If no one's pleased with this, then to each their own, I suppose. The price I'm asking for is $45.50, which is the price of most seats in this section. Ticketmaster is evil, and there's no way in hell I want others to deal with those insane fees that I've had to pay. Right now, I need any sort of revenue (my job doesn't help that much), and this is what I have to part with. There's no way in hell I'm selling these on eBay, because they're evil, too.
If anyone is interested, you can either reply to this post, OR email me at cinnabelmont(at)gmail(dot)com. I accept check, money order, or PayPal or if you're REALLY SHIFTY, well-concealed cash, which I really REALLY don't recommend. People who live in Chicago and around the area who are interested can pick it up locally if they'd like. But, yeah, I hate to have to do this, and if any of you were in my situation, you'd probably hate it, too (or maybe not do it at all, who knows). But yeah, the only redeeming quality about this ticket is that it's on Bono's birthday, and that should probably be exciting. I haven't been to a U2 show in about 8 years, and it looks like I won't be going for about another two, but oh well. :( Things must be done.
Thanks in advance, guys, and please don't kill me. Think of the kittens. I'm watching you. *scary sounds*
Say something happened to Bono's voice (god forbid) and he had to leave U2. However, before leaving he wanted to appoint someone to take his place.
Who would you choose to take Bono's place as U2's lead singer? (it can be ANYONE)
And don't say "waaaa I love Bono too much no one can take his place blah blah blah" because that sucks all of the fun out of it ;)
In 1990, my family and I visited Ireland. While there, Ireland had qualified for the World Cup. The whole country was insane with excitement.
In celebration of this, some Irish artists came together to make the song "Put 'em Under Pressure." Maire Brennan, Davy Spillane and others performed. Larry helped produce and arrange the song. In the liner notes, Bono and Paul McGuinness are both thanked. (It was an awesome experience. This song was on the radio all the time, people were singing it in pubs, and everyone was just so thrilled.)
ANYWAY, I was wondering if anyone by chance had an mp3 of this. I have a cassette single of it, but that's not too practical anymore.
Does anyone even know of this song?
Ok fellow U2 fans.
What are your favorite U2 or Bono collaborations?
Myself, I really like the song When the Stars Go Blue, with The Corrs.
I need your suggestion. I plan on making a cd full of U2 / Bono song collaborations.
Since I'm posting...
I have not read anyone's reports on the shows in the tour so far. You know, trying to avoid driving myself crazy with anticipation (I'm going to the Montreal show... IN EIGHT MONTHS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! LOL!).
But please, but my mind at rest and tell me: they do play Sunday bloody Sunday, do they?
Anyone got a link to one of the set list so far? Thanks!
I have a $50 off coupon for the iTunes Complete U2 set that's about to expire and that I don't plan on using. I think it's about to expire, anyway....it may have already. *facepalm* Anyway, first one to comment with their email address will get to take that gamble, because I'm lazy like that.
Semi-related question: How long do the shows usually run?
I'm trying to learn the Red Rocks version of 11 O'Clock Tick Tock on guitar :P
Haha, it's one of my first times playing the guitar :P but I hve ato admit that it's beginning to look like 11OCTT... well, not like WOW, but you know :P (it's because I have played a lot of instruments since I was 7 years old, so I know what I'm doing, I guess :P)
The only instrument I played from my 7th year to now is the drums, I'm 16 now... Well, that's about 9 years, and I think I'm ought to be good at it :P Everybody says I'm really good at it, so I take that for granted :P
Ok, I was talking about learning 11 O'Clock Tick Tock; It's a really tough song you know...
I'll let you guys know when I got the song under control!
Does anyone know if there is a bootleg video of the May 4, 2001 Elevation Tour at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY? And if there is one, where could I get a copy? I've been looking for 4 years and still haven't been able to find one and I figured if anyone would know, you all would!
Thanks so much for your help!
