Yayyayayaya I found my ticket!!!!
thought I might've thrown it away. WHEW.
isn't that some happiness. Fri, Nov 18th at 7:30pm. I will most likely have to fly in from wherever I am but that's okay. I could fly in around 8am, go CAMP OUT at Phillips Arena since I know the area, and after the concert fly back home :) Or something like that.
Anybody else going to the ATLANTA NOV 18TH show?! Perhaps we can split a pizza, room, pint? Hehe all good to me. I know the area very well and the transit system can get you to the concert pretty nicely.
Anyone need a Denver 4/20 ticket? My son cannot go. I will sell it for 50 bucks the day of the show - you will have to meet me there.
Today's selection is
"Two Hearts Beat as One" from War (1983)
Thoughts: I always love how bombastic the chorus is and how Bono reaches back and shouts it, while still making it sound like beautiful music. I love how bouncy the entire song is. It's so simplistic in its structure, jumping from verse to verse with just the title as the chorus. That being said, the problem remains that it's not an entirely memorable tune nor does it really stand out from the rest of the album's tracks. The instrumentation doesn't pull itself apart from the vocals like other memorable tunes from U2. The vocals themselves are very solid and cry of desperation but I wanted something more from the instruments backing the vocals. They seem to just disappear into the background or take a deference to the singing.
I'm still new at all this concert stuff, in fact, the Atlanta concert in November will technically be my first rock concert. I've been sheltered, I know. And, no, I'm not a teenager.
Ok, so here's my question: How much is the merchandise running at the concert venues? Like, t-shirts, programs and maybe some of the little stuff.
I'm trying to figure out how much I need to have handy when I start going all fangirl about it. I've heard some prices already but want to just double check. I might say that the prices are too high but I'm prepared to admit that as soon as I see them I will have to have one. If you go to a concert, you have to have a tour shirt.
Hey, everybody. Just joined this community. Love U2 and been a big fan for quite a while now :)
I saw the spotlight last night while my family and I were eating dinner. I was 12 inches (literally) from the television screen. And you know you're obsessed when you forget to BREATHE when you see clips of the live shows!
I guess I'll put my Complete U2 coupon up for grabs. I don't know how much longer it will last-- I've had the iPod since December.
400+ U2 songs is way too much U2 for me, thanks. I'll stick to the albums and some of the more interesting B-sides and bootlegs. I don't need every single mix of "Vertigo" ever made.
Now, I could do the boring thing and give the code to the first person who posts their e-mail address, but that's boring, so.... you all have to post jokes. In two days, the person who posted the joke I liked the most will win the coupon code. If you want to speed things up, put your e-mail address in the same post as the joke, so I can just send it to you once I make my judgment.
Good luck! Be funny!
Allow me to preface this by saying that I adore Bono and I prefer to listen to Bono singing over just about anybody else.
That said, I was watching Rattle and Hum this evening, which I haven't watched in a year or so. It struck me, not for the first time, that Bono's voice has changed a lot since then. I mean, whose wouldn't, after twenty years? (Except like, Paul McCartney's.) SO. Keeping in mind that we all love Bono and think he's the Best Ever, does anybody else feel like they'd give an arm, or at least a toe, to be at one of those Joshua Tree shows? I'm thinking specifically about the R&H version of 'With or Without You,' which is just so rich. Bono sounds like chocolate mousse at the beginning of that song. Mmm. Chocolate Bono.
It's a musical journey.
Also, since it's on my mind, how do you all feel about Rattle and Hum (the film)? I know a few pretty hardcore U2 fans who don't like it at all. I can understand that, because there are parts during which I just cringe, but I think the live performances, for me at least, make up for things like Bono reading to BB King. *cringe* And Larry's hand motions while Adam is explaining... I don't think anybody knows what he's explaining, but it's funny. And I like it.
Uh... it's a musical journey...
hey all,I'm wondering if anyone here has U2's cover of Hallelujah?
I can't describe how much I love this song. Damn. No "One" or "Stay", but there's still something about this song.....
